I recently read online the opinion of a critic whose name I don’t recall, specifically about The Clash and this album in particular. According to this critic, these anthems even have something that hints at Shakespearean aspirations; these screams are shaken by a fervor that goes beyond the demagogic slogan that appeals to the masses to become truly something more than the usual political-social broth. It was magic idealism without a father.

Nobody I know says that modern dance came out in '78, anyway perhaps the most beautiful record of that year was made by Eno.

The American edition is a parade of masterpieces, a lightning strike after another; for me, after the Suicide and the Ultravox, it was the most massive heartbreak of that great revolutionary year that was 1977.

As I already mentioned in the previous review, for me these are the real Clash, this album represents their true attitude and you were right, Ringo, to feel like the Clash back then instead of Zeppelin. I still prefer the American edition, though.

I have to say that his retirement came really quite early; it was reasonable to expect something very different from that slow hand cremiano, and instead we had to endure zucchero sugar fornaciari. Well, what can I say? I'm certainly not fond of him as a character, and it's clear that the blues hasn't made any significant leaps in quality thanks to him.

It's quite clear that it's a great group, especially considering that the country cousins emulated their costumes, but apparently, they didn't understand a damn thing when they started to emulate their music.

Indeed, American hardcore (but all hardcore) is the offspring of early punk; it's nothing more than an extremization... look at Black Flag and those California beach punk bands...

Bonnie "Prince" Billy Summer In The Southeast

bonnie prince sings palace music I didn't like it much last year, let's try this one and hope the backing orchestra of the bard is as sparse as the voice. From the review, it really seems so.
