John Zorn Bar Kokhba
Voto:
There's not much to say here; indeed, Zorn is a true genius, not just a presumed one. I go further: whenever I have doubts about what I listen to of his, I always put myself in the position of not being good enough for the situation. Masada is essential for every lover of jazz music and beyond, "Bar Kohkba" is excellent just like "The Circle Maker." Regarding "Masada," I remember that the ninth CD was practically impossible to find. Then a question: there's a legend that there are also chapters 11, 12, and 13; is that true?

don... that's fine, I won't start making any pseudo-intellectual musical speeches about emerging bands, I like the album RIGHT NOW, and then who cares, enjoy the moment, don't always anticipate tomorrow. And if you don't like it, everyone listens to whatever suits them best, right?

I don't know if I need to be purified, and I don't know if what I'm listening to right now is rubbish (likely but not certain), but I don't interpret Mozart in this way, even though he deserves the utmost respect. The effort to review an "author" of such magnitude is commendable.

Hi Hal, it's easy to share what you write. I'm not familiar with the work, and I didn't know that Bernstein had published this concerto with the Vienna Philharmonic.

Brief review, but the album is good, and they are just the tip of an iceberg called Domino, which is their record label that, by the way, has a band called Arctic Monkeys under contract, which we will soon hear about.
Paul Motian, Bill Frisell, Joe Lovano I Have the Room Above Her
Voto:
Absolutely Antonio, with Frisell you can't go wrong anyway, and I’ll add in the Elektra period "Before We Were Born" where there's a legendary "Hards Plains Drifter," and for ECM "Lookout For Hope," just to be fair to everyone.

I took a momentary break from writing reviews, but I read others', especially if they are heartfelt and well-written. My compliments (not just for form's sake) because you are one of the very few who writes about "classical" (in quotes because it's just the need to frame it and not to categorize it). I just got Bach’s "Brandenburg Concertos" (all six) for RCA Victor, and soon the latest one you mentioned will also arrive.
Genesis ....Calling All Stations...
Voto:
The album is not bad at all; in fact, if it had been released under the name of some side project of the two survivors (think "Mike And The Mechanics" or "Strictly Incognito"), it might have been received with less coldness. As for Genesis, anyone who knows Banks’s solo work knows that 75% of it is solely his own doing, with the hyper-melodic additions from his friend Mike making up the other 25%. However, frankly, aside from the name on the cover, I don’t see any trace of Genesis. The review, in any case, is terrible, and I find it in poor taste.
