Well, Gino, let me preface by saying that none of Cattelan's installations shock me; they often make me smile. But given how modern Italy is, considering the latest fake religious disputes over the crucifix, I imagined that someone would be offended by the one about Karol. Not because I'm a believer, obviously. And it's not that I DON'T RESPECT those who get indignant, but sometimes (if they're young in age) I just donā€™t understand it, that's all. However, everyone has their own judgment parameters and their personal limit of what is ā€œexcessive,ā€ which crosses into bad taste. Honestly, I don't think there's anything particularly scandalous; there's just a desire to annoy the average Italian, very likely a need for publicity and visibility, perhaps (in the best-case scenario) a desire to provoke repressed moralism, according to which "children are the blood of our blood, and we don't joke about that." Maybe I'm the one who's sick, but I didnā€™t mean to attack anyone who doesnā€™t appreciate this installation. I also donā€™t want you to think that I go around singing its praises.

Why do you feel offended? I would understand Woitila hit by a meteorite, if you're a believer, but what about the children? It's all so exaggerated that the mockery is blatant (the only differentiator is advanced age; I understand the elderly who struggle to relate to this thing).
