I recently bought Deserter's Song by Mercury Rev in a Japanese edition for 2.5 euros and Monster Magnet Dopes to Infinity for 3 euros... make of that what you will... anyway, Holland isn't bad for used stuff either. But Tokyo is a whole other story.

When I return to Italy, I look for them, I hope they’re not too much of a mishmash of genres. I trust you if you say I might like them. But where are they from? From your area? Anyway, you deserve a nice one of your best roles.

Beautiful record... but I recommend not to overdo it with the length, because aside from those who know the album or are personally interested, 80 out of 100 won't read it. The record didn't move me one way or the other (I found it in Tokyo for very little 4 years ago) and I returned it. Even seen live, it didn't say anything to me... maybe because that same night Motorpsycho were playing.

Hi Kosmo, a lot of free time lately, right? Anyway, I heard them at Tower Records and they seemed worth checking out, but I won't buy them, maybe I'll find them used for 6 euros like the Von Bondies. The record is great as usual. Bye!

Excuse me, can someone recommend me some albums from the aforementioned artists? Here in Tokyo, they are found used like bread for less than 8 euros. This leads me to assume two things:
A) the Japanese don’t know shit about music
B) the used records I found are a piece of crap
C) God does not exist
I await responses.

Well, the album that made me discover that beautiful music exists even without heavy guitars and drums! For me, it remains a masterpiece (of course, the emotional value of the work counts), but I understand your criticisms. Spying Glass should be an old reggae piece by Horazio, then remixed in the album, and Light My Fire in their version, I’m sorry to say, but it’s almost an abomination (I always skipped it). One note on your otherwise excellent review: some passages are a bit heavy and too elaborate (don’t worry, it’s a common affliction here on de-baser) like "trip hop is a cage for this music that relaxes on a four-wheeled vehicle launched towards the darkness and its chests of secrets from a nocturnal Babylon to seduce"....I don’t quite understand what you’re trying to express. Anyway, great passages (I totally agree with the Blade Runner pessimism!). Bye!

Ah, you know the story of children's isolation too! Well, I remembered it well; they called me crazy when I told it. Anyway, the album is truly the perfect balance between musical sophistication (that is, the progressive element) and a more properly rock expressiveness... never heavy despite its complexity. If only prog had stayed at this level! Bye

Of course, I meant "succeeded".... I haven't changed my gender yet.... it would be quite a hassle, getting waxed, spending millions on cosmetics, dealing with periods..... in short, long live women, but I feel better as a male!

THE TOOL ALBUM, there’s no contest with Lateralus! You beat me to the review, but I could never have done it because when an album resonates with you so deeply, it’s really hard to put those feelings into words… I remember I almost missed them in Paris in January '97 after the album came out. The edition that Motossega has is the same as mine, the first release; then, since they printed so few, that shabby three-D-less version was put on the market instead. Anyway, I remember finding it at Nannucci in Bologna. They remain the only metal-sounding band I still enjoy listening to. Great review.

Well done, even though there was already this rec... anyway, yours is definitely better! However, I’m sorry to say that they treated Syd pretty badly, and dedicating him a clock that ticks or a diamond that sparkles seems more like a "crocodile tears" attitude than a true tribute... without him, many things would never have happened! Then from Atom onwards, they took their own direction, which is debatable, but personal. Bye.
Anyway, in my opinion, this album opens and closes on its own every discussion about psychedelia! Rocky, if you come on Soulseek, download the BBC sessions '67/'69 from me... they’re awesome!
