I'm going back to Christmas in Puglia, and maybe we'll meet up... I'm staying in Italy for a while. Anyway, what the hell are ema? Please don't use young slang (or should I say youth-istic) in here. We're old.

screamadelica I'm sorry to say it, but it sucks! If I had listened to it back then, I might have seen it from a different perspective, but hearing it 5 years later (97) it already didn’t make sense, except for being a watershed moment. But musically, apart from higher than the sun (wonderful just like its dub version), it’s a desert. This may not be the case, but maybe I'll provide. As for the rest, I might be ignorant, but the only album I consider great is XTMNTR.

there was already the rec....anyway the rating is right, I understand that the pretentiousness of the tracks can turn some people off....everyone who hates it thinks of the often-mocked progressive. I place myself in the middle: I really liked At the Drive-In and was very skeptical about this, but instead I've changed my mind and it was one of the most listened to albums of last year. In the new year, I’ll be in Italy, and I’ll definitely go see them.

This record was made for the English market after they were "discovered" by the latecomers from across the Channel. Anyway, I liked veni vidi vicious back then and I remember they were fantastic live... can you believe it, seen at 5000 of the old lira at the Pedro in Padua, good times for concerts. Anyway, live they lasted 50 minutes, but that’s fine, you can't play this garage & roll for too long, you know how annoying that can be.

I absolutely have to get it... I've been trying to download it for over a year but nada. Great performance.

and then the English who live in England (not those abroad) really get on my nerves like fish & chips... the Americans might be generally misinformed but at least they're more easygoing, at least in my experience. All these stereotypes shouldn't be taken as a reassessment of the Italian biped, perhaps one of the worst categories of human beings both abroad and at home. Awful all over the world!!!

In the 60s and 70s, I agree that the English produced a lot of crap (at least for me) compared to their American contemporaries, but in the 90s, I became more attached to yankee music, whether due to historical circumstances or age-related reasons.

I'm sorry masterflash, but I grew up with metal, hard rock, and 60s-70s psychedelia, plus grunge in full swing. Britpop arrived late for me, and unfortunately, whether due to ignorance or the annoyance I felt from the musical proposals, I was never very interested in it. To give you an idea, the Blur album I like the most remains the self-titled one and 13, so you can imagine. And I'm 28 years old, so...

I really appreciate those who criticize these new bands; it takes a good dose of ruthlessness but, above all, musical clarity. Moreover, this review is written excellently and sharply, a bit like the riffs of Gang of Four! Today I read two more reviews of these (on Pitchfork Media and Emotional Breakdown), and I think you might be right, Slate; just because Pitchfork promotes some unlistenable crap like The Go! Team or other derivative nonsense. The problem is that from the current post-punk revival, there's not much to draw out beyond what was done back in the day... I don't know, but after one album, for instance, the Gang of Four really annoys me, so continuing to circle around in a big-man style (as you rightly point out) the same two riffs is just stupid... the same goes for The Rapture. It all depends on how much someone likes to hear old things that are almost similar... I, who like the ‘60s, enjoy a revival if done well, but it can also be retrograde. Alright, enough. Ola.

I'm curious about the good solo work by Coxon since I've heard good things about it. I agree with Frantz regarding Britpop; aside from Definitely Maybe, it immediately made my hands itch... but back then I was in my twenties and still had a lot of teenage angst inside, and those four fake alternative guys irritated me. Hi Easy.
