Interpol Live @ Velvet RIMINI (02/12/2004 )

Did you pay 20 euros for the interpol????? Damn, what a rip-off. Those guys at the Velvet are such jerks these days. I saw them there over a year ago, and even though I hadn't listened to the CD yet, I liked them quite a bit. But the bassist's attitude got on my nerves, and the voice (I know this will spark a debate) is IDENTICAL to that of Joy Division. Still, they were good live, I admit. After, they acted a bit like losers with the girls at the Velvet and even acted all high and mighty, but that's a common behavior anyway. Anyway, the Velvet has terrible acoustics; I've seen about 10 concerts there, and apart from Motorpsycho, the rest sounded pretty awful (the worst of the worst was with Belle & Sebastian over two years ago). I agree with easy, the dark side doesn't drive me crazy... I got to know them with this one and the first one, so dark side felt a bit forced to me... even though it's undoubtedly a very, very beautiful album. This is what gives me the best memories of my adolescence.

ah ah ah....wait for me at Termini station.....what a laugh.....unfortunately I was looking for a serious discussion but you are too stereotypical to respond to you.....what are you, a friend of Delfo Zorzi? A Lazio supporter? Figa e pallone? Ah ah thanks for making my after-work fun....

You are right, Norvheim, that I jumped to hasty conclusions too quickly, and I apologize for that. I always enjoy being proven wrong. However, the fact remains that I wrote this because the passage quoted by Zion above can only be conceived by someone on the right. So you either wrote incorrectly or you're simply a naïve thinker, and I suspect you're quite young, which might be what scares me the most. Anyway, it’s true that I connected the era randomly, and I didn't mean to imply that you could consider it this way or that way; my discussion was more general, but after a reprimand directed at you, it was as if I was speaking to you. Regardless, I don’t agree with equating a right-wing demonstration (which if it exists is, coincidentally, of the extreme variety) and those of the left (which are now made up only of children of the wealthy, far from the '70s). I also like this + more, I remember very poorly instead of an expression of inexpressible that had quite annoyed me... at home now I have my violent life, which is quite a delirium. The problem is that I like the pieces sung by Pace more and not by Makino, which depresses me. Am I a sexist?

Regarding ska-p, they suck just like the fake young leftists who are daddy's kids. Ska is from the 60s, this is stupid ska core from dance halls. What a mess. Luckily, Kosmo teaches a bit of music history and sociology, so he got there before me.

Norvheim, congratulations on how well you splash around in the commonplaces of the right, keep it up. About Genoa, you say things that Mentana or Liguori could say, which makes it easy to reduce everything to this... poor little defenseless policemen, certainly worth defending. And I'm not one to attack the police just for principle, but in Genoa, I saw things reminiscent of South America in the '70s; Pinochet acted in the same way. That doesn’t mean I want to attack the police just out of principle, and I don’t consider them idiots because they are (aside from the fact that a good part of them is). The issue is that disinformation is the key to success. And you demonstrate that it works; you are the glaring example. I remind you that, as Puglia says, in Padua, they even allow the Nazis to hold demonstrations. I know you’ll tell me that if the left does it, then why not. And no, damn it, no! This state is theoretically (at least according to what is written in the constitution... if there will be one again) based on something called antifascism. Do you think there was freedom during the twenty years, huh? If you have grandparents who have told you these things, you might get an idea... but why do I even say it, when a well-known idiot has managed in 8 years to make the average person believe that the "communists" governed Italy for 50 years... how sad is the lack of historical memory.

I also think like Nick, but I'm not a fan of hip hop and in fact, if I see someone around making monkey gestures with their hands and wearing pants with a low crotch, I look for a blunt object to make a mess of them... from this point of view, I'm almost Nazi, but I just get an immediate itch in my hands, what can I do? Eminem is definitely a phony and exploits what he condemns, the prototype of the 2000s revolutionary, who barks but is tied to the system's leash. So, harmless. Finally, regarding the opening line "as always, Eminem hasn't disappointed us," I'd say "think for yourself, the genre that disappoints me every day" but that would make me an asshole, so I won't write it... or have I already?

It seems to me that we are going in circles.... unfortunately and fortunately, you can't change people's opinions; if someone likes this album, that's their problem in the end, right? I completely agree with what Nick says, and for me, who loved them ever since my sister bought Unforgettable Fire (I was about 7 years old), they died artistically after Achtung Baby and the related concert in Verona in '93... thank goodness for Pearl Jam!! I don't have this album, I won't listen to it (simply because I want a nice memory linked to the past instead of ruining everything by following them now... same reason I wouldn't go see, I don't know, Jethro Tull right now) and I won't vote for it. So everybody is happy.

Categorizing music is something we all know is nonsense; man seeks structures to refer to and through which to understand and make sense of the world. It's a natural dynamic that reproduces itself in many, if not all, fields of human knowledge. Anyway, the controversy over caz/francis is boring me; it seems to be based on nothing, folks. The rec isn't bad, but I'm part of the Turkish camp—infinitely long. I think it's important, Francis, that someone reads what you write; otherwise, the rec is read by people like me who know a bit about the Riot, and the others, I don’t think so. Comparing them to the NiN makes no sense; they do different things, and come on, but the NiN came out a bit earlier, don't you think? I agree with Zigghio, finally, that Ministry's "Land" or "F*** Up" & "Honey" are better than both of the aforementioned. Finally, it doesn't seem to me that at the time anyone was talking about ATR in Italy (if I’m not mistaken, I have a number of Rumore with a nice feature on them). Ciao.
