Nice job, fusillo. I'm so nostalgically attached that I ended up talking about anime robots in my thesis; damn, what a satisfaction to discuss Jeeg Robot d'Acciaio! If you don't have it, I recommend you grab *Mazinga Nostalgia* by Marco Pellitteri, once published by Castelvecchi, one of the best things ever written about Japanese cartoons, and with a solid analysis of the heroic imagery of three generations. I'll leave you with a quiz: who sang Jeeg Robot d'Acciaio? If anyone says Pelù, just ignore them; it's not.....

Today I'm unloading it because the first one had enchanted me; let's hope you're wrong, more for them than for me, obviously. Anyway, I'm definitely buying them.

It's obvious that within the New York scene they were quite known, but outside they practically didn't exist, and I'm not the one saying it, but Reed in the band's biography. At the time, that crazy guy Lester Bangs pushed them, but they later became global phenomena after Reed (who had already become famous with Transformer) decided to play their songs live (R'n'R Animal). I don't understand what elements of the 13th are in the first Velvet album. Where do you find the Tex-Mex garage guitar with the typical roller coaster sound? I mean, aside from the expansion of Rollercoaster, the 13th were tied to a much more normal song structure compared to stuff like Black Angel's Death Song, Venus in Furs, or Heroin, don't you think? The pop songs were practically commissioned by Warhol for Nico's voice, and even those don't really have much to do with the 13th. To finish, Reed and the others did about two tours on the West Coast without the slightest success, they hated hippies and weren't interested in their music. Perhaps the only connection lies in drug-propelled songwriting for both, but heroin and amphetamines are very different from LSD and cannabis.

Honestly, I don’t see the connection between Velvet and 13th. It’s like comparing cricket and tennis just because they both use a ball. And to be precise, the Velvet started recording slightly earlier even though their debut albums are contemporaneous. Anyway, Rocky was already playing with the Spades in '65. The Velvet are also remembered because of Lou Reed’s solo career; at the time, hardly anyone paid attention to them, just like the 13th, who were resurrected by Lenny Kaye on the first Nuggets in '72/73. I don’t know about Barrett, but he surely knew and followed the Love; the riff of "Interstellar Overdrive" was taken from "Little Red Book" from the first album by the Love. At least that’s what he claimed back then.

As far as I know, space rock is from the early '70s, think of Hawkwind and Captain Beyond (but especially the former), and it doesn't have much in common with German cosmic music, at least not with Tangerine. The mention of Scaruffi could easily make me avoid them, but I would be like him, so proposal accepted.

Yes, God, I recommend you to start with the previous one, I would say better, even though I'm re-listening to this one and I must say it has its reasons.

Good job, philosopher, but even the Cro-Magnon of orgasm has very few arrows in its quiver besides innovation. Interesting + in hindsight compared to what was produced at the time.

Clinton told him to play as if his mother were dead... but being on acid, the good Hazel truly saw her dead, given the stratospheric results of maggot brain.

one of my favorites, a record for beach sunrises high as kites, nothing incomplete about it. The movie is less bad than I imagined. It had become a mirage and then I found it in Turin at a store near the cinema museum. Damn, I had been looking for it for like 12 years! Green is the colour still drives me crazy.

I've been going around this rec for two years now. But at least I'm glad someone made it. The only one I'm missing from them is Sound of Confusion, but between this and Playing with Fire, I can't decide—maybe this one because of its innate narcoleptic qualities. I actually like it precisely because it's all very similar. Even the Live in Europe 1989 isn't bad if you can find it. A friend of mine in his forties saw them in London in '88, and he told me that people were practically running away from the wall of sound; they really couldn't contain themselves.
