Woody Allen Match Point
Voto:
I watched it thinking it was crap, and instead surprise! I found it very cynical, deliberately sloppy, in terms of dialogue, settings, and actors (the monexpression protagonist is PERFECT). I'm quite surprised, I've missed some Allen films in the last 10 years, but among the latest, this is the best. @deneil: in my opinion, you didn’t really understand much of the film, but like you, many couldn’t stand it. Here, Allen doesn’t really mean "I am a comedian," especially because if you don’t know it’s an Allen film, you wouldn't even think about that. So analyzing it without having Allen's figure in mind would already be something. Then, it may not appeal to everyone, like everything.

Reka for me, the progressive follower was not considered a poser or arrogant, but only a loser and backward. To think of it that way would have indirectly conferred positive qualities to the music. Man, you're a bit analytical in the analysis... mine was a general discussion about the change of direction of some groups; there are no obvious traces of said groups on this record. It's the approach and little else. I mentioned the Family among the "innocent" condemned to oblivion; there’s practically nothing of Family here. Maybe something Crimson-like, that’s true. The Canterbury-type organ can belong to either Caravan, Soft Machine, or Khan; I wasn’t referring to a specific band. If you want something new progressive even in sound, I recommend Hypnos 69's "The Eclectic Measure." @bjork: indeed, it wasn’t ONLY punk that decreed the end of prog as a mainstream genre, but it was the triggering event that caused a general cleanup. Without it, who knows how long we would have been stuck obsessing over instruments and nothing else. With this, I'm not saying all prog is like that, but as far as I'm concerned, a good part is, with some wonderful exceptions.

downloaded from the Lost-In-Tyme blog, not bad but I need to listen to it properly again.

I swear I couldn't see it, but you could tell from the trailers that it wasn't for kids. So, you really thought it was meant for children and the Franco regime was just there to provide historical context? And then that 60-year-old rant about how it's for everyone! Come on! I hope you're not serious; what the hell are we supposed to say, that even the Church isn't off-limits for minors? I mean, damn, I've been hoping for ages they'd stick a Parental Advisory next to the Sistine Chapel!

Well, you’re opening a door with the Motor... but they have very little to do with punk, if you mean a sound rather than a general attitude. In the beginning, they were very metal, then indefinably pop-rock-psych (Timothy's Monster), then a bit like Sonic Youth (Blissard), then similar to stoner (Trust Us and Angel and Demons), then a retro '60s twist (Let Them, Phanerotyme, and Love Cult), and finally a bit of a return to their roots. Honestly, I’ve never thought of them as psychedelic-punk, but to each his own; the fact remains that they sound like few others live.

As far as I know, I confirm that the first lips are the only ones to have combined the two things.

Yes, I remember those titans, I have a cassette somewhere. You're right, damn, I realized the chapel when I sent the rec, my bad.... And anyway, thinking about it, they aren't as progressive as they seem, I'd say more German-like. But so far maybe the best psych record of the year. I also really dig Grails. And maybe the last one from Dungen isn’t as bad as I thought at the beginning.

downloaded from you yesterday, and heard in my sleep. I woke up and almost got angry for the lack of krauts and bratwurst.
