Good job, Antò, short and impactful. I was waiting to listen to it calmly before writing a couple of lines about it. Unfortunately, the three or four times I heard it didn’t excite me. Maybe because the balance between sick psychedelia and softer sounds had already been achieved with Feathers. Here, unfortunately, the drift of ā€œwe want to be those overrated Brian Jonestown Massacreā€ is a bit too overwhelming. I'm Gone, which quotes a bit too much, is a real stinker. However, I admit that for me they still maintain an honest charm. In my opinion, they still have a unique touch. And they are coming to play in Pescara at the end of March (and the day before/after, the Belgian band Hypnos 69 is also playing!).

Good job, giubbo! It's been a while since I read something so heartfelt! I still need to try to really get into this album; I often listen to it in headphones before going to bed, but I remember very little of it. Alright, today I'll put it on CD and that will be that.

Well, I don't feel it much, but in the end, I have to say I like it quite a bit, just as I liked the first one (I think I even reviewed it!). However, this album is missing a standout track, somewhat like "tribulations" on the first one, the best track made by Murphy & co.

old growth I'm hoping to find it used in Tokyo in March, for now I'm saving my pennies. For now, I also just got the Black Mountain, the rest is a big dead loss.

I'm sorry I have to rewatch it, but for now it’s a terrible film adaptation of Ellroy's beautiful book. It seems to me that it even changes the ending, unbelievable. Technically good, but the choice of some actors is completely wrong, the two cops are too pretentious, Johansson is too hot for the role she was supposed to play. For me 2.5/5.

Do you like it, Antò? I've decided to abandon the Woodrose brothers; they've kind of been wearing me out, always the same... but if you write a review, I might change my mind! @Ale: you know it's true, it looks like that famous photo on the stairs at the Minor Threat's house. Good job!

With Stoney's comment, I would say the matter is settled. Take note, Percy, because that’s the crux of the argument. As for the rest of the world considering them such, perhaps after their death, but before that, I doubt the REST OF THE WORLD did so; they weren’t the Beatles. I’ve also lived abroad and I still go 5/6 times a year for work; I have American friends in their 40s who tell me that growing up, Queen was considered a cheesy band. What can I say? Unfortunately, with Queen, it’s not a matter of bringing up Italy's blindness or provinciality, because for instance, my cousin was playing Queen live in 1976, and he lived in Ancona (basically nothing). I’m not one of those who defends Italy; that would be like defending Goebbels, but there have been exceptions where bands that were little appreciated at home topped the charts here (a clear example being Pawn Hearts by VDGG). Anyway, all this is to say that it’s not ONLY in Italy where Queen are belittled, that much is certain.

Fuck, I get all fired up just hearing Renate from Amon Duul. In fact, many kraut groups tend to include spoken word sections that can be quite cacophonous (I’m thinking of Sergius Golowin, if anyone knows what I’m talking about).

Shit, the album that I like the most by Queen is considered the origin of the genre that I dislike the most within the sacred quadrilateral of guitar-bass-drums-voice????? Well, luckily I don't hear it that way, otherwise I’d have to throw it in the garden... Unfortunately, quoting Scaruffi to support a thesis is like shooting yourself in the foot, because he notoriously follows his own personal vision of the rock world, and of course, if he speaks badly of The Beatles and millions of other bands, he can't help but denigrate Queen. In fact, knowing him, he even went a bit easy! Regarding the controversy, there can never be an end. I grew up with Queen, I got all their albums on vinyl between '88 and '90, but for me, they remain a teenage listen (this album aside). Therefore, I distinguish between absolute value and emotional (particular) value. As I continued to grow, I became more and more immersed in the musical exploration of the 60s and early 70s, and unfortunately, I had to realize that the role and stature of Queen (looking at the landscape from above and without prejudices) is definitely diminished in the face of the myriad of excellent productions of that time. Up to A Night at the Opera, they may have had something to say, but from News of the World onward, the absolute value of their songs, in my opinion, drops tremendously. Whether it was due to media overexposure, or whatever the hell else, but "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions" are now two terrible songs for me, impossible to listen to. So it would be enough for the staunch defenders here to try to accept the criticism and the recontextualization of Queen on one hand, while on the other hand, at least not to stop at the stereotypical idea of the usual 4 Queen songs, but maybe try giving this album a listen, for example. Oh, and in the end, you can all fight it out; at least it entertains me!
