Damn, I really missed this truly significant controversy. The fair of trivialities continues on debaser... now I'm checking the ranking of human cases, I think 19 is looking pretty good.

If I do it, it risks being a semi-sequel of shallow insults... I heard it again earlier in the car and from 6 o'clock on, I was in tears. I admit that a couple of tracks are nice, but I almost had an accident several times.

Have you always been a 38? I remember in '92 it was a different number... well, I have a terrible memory lately.

Damo Suzuki with Metak Network + Zu & Xabier Iriondo PhonoMetak Series#4 split 10

I met with Xabier and Mattia from Sedia (whom I know personally) last summer, it seems. To say they are difficult is putting it mildly; compared to them, the Can seem like ABBA in terms of simplicity. Damo is definitely shy and doesn't feel like speaking Japanese much (and he's barely 1.60 m tall). On the other hand, his German wife looks like the European aunt, she's about 20 cm taller than him.

My calling them terrible is not derived from their look (I think I saw a photo after hearing the record), nor from their audience (which I vaguely guessed might be the aforementioned), but simply from the fact that they remain absolutely anonymous to me, and to my ears the sounds are horrible. And that fake ethnic touch reminiscent of Paul Simon's '80s work is the most kitsch and phony thing I can think of. It wouldn’t be bad in itself; at this point, I'd much rather listen to Yeasayer if we want to draw a parallel with the new "Africanists." And then I just can't stand groups that, regardless of their value, get all this publicity right on their first release. It always smells to me of something precooked and prepackaged. I admit I have blind spots in this regard, but I still try to listen first, especially because I've changed my mind about a lot of stuff I thought was unbearable in recent years. @Ole: well Disco Frisco is right in Treviso, 5 minutes from the station (at least the last time I went there, about 8 years ago). In the city of Venice, there's S. Barnaba, the legendary bald guy full of reissues and interesting prices every now and then. In Mestre, there's another guy whose store should be called Indie Records, well-stocked but ridiculously expensive. In PD there used to be 23... or was it 27? Well, I confuse it with the occupied philosophy department in Bologna... or am I wrong again? Ouch, arteriosclerosis...

AHhhh Disco Frisco!!! I don't know what I would give to have a little shop like that in my desolate homeland... damn, this page is getting more and more nostalgic for me... good times, three Motorpsycho EPs bought for 12,000 lira each, good times, yes indeed, good times!

for heaven's sake, I don't set the standard on grades, and I'm genetically not suited for this stuff, so I'm not very objective. Let's say I have an ear opening of about 15° lately, so it's up to you....

what nostalgia for the parties I had in college. And what a pleasure to stop the dancing by forcing everyone to "dance" to Demon Cleaner by Kyuss! And Punk Islam echoing through the streets... well, enough with the nostalgic interlude.
