the twist in The Sixth Sense, that is the only interesting idea of the film, reminds me tremendously of Una Pura Formalità by Tornatore with Depardieu and Polanski /^(which I recommend you watch if they air it, very interesting as a movie)

I have no prejudices against today's teenagers; on the contrary, I consider you to be quite lucky. I'm not saying that you (or other peers of yours) listen to what is trendy; it’s an observation that, not so long ago (like 13 years ago), the influences of certain niche music from the past (a prime example being German krautrock) were not accessible to everyone (due to their difficult availability and high prices), and thus were not "in fashion" as they are now. This was a good thing, because there were great bands that were unknown to most. In this regard, the Internet has democratized listening, giving credit to those who truly deserved it. At least that’s how I use downloads (listen, and if it’s bad, delete it; otherwise, I buy it). I only say that the easy availability has stripped away some of the allure and created a transformation in music listeners, who have often become bulimic consumers of everything and everyone, but who struggle to truly listen and, more importantly, to let the more complex listens settle. Some records that I’ve had for 15 years, I'm only discovering now, but often we find ourselves accumulating for the sheer joy of doing so (and I fully include myself in this, because I am not exempt from such dynamics). Culture, both musical and otherwise, requires time. It’s not an all-inclusive package or a cerebral download like in The Matrix. And I’m not talking about anyone present in particular, just a general trend. If anyone here feels implicated, it’s not my fault. Oh, and I don’t see myself as an adult; otherwise, I wouldn't be here arguing with someone half my age.

Sixteen-year-olds, thank Napster because otherwise you would have had to sweat seven shirts to find someone to record Residents, Faust, and half of the knowledge that's trendy now. You are definitely lucky; us thirty-somethings (not to mention those even older) had to work much harder at your age to listen to records... yet I admit I miss that situation. Records sounded better; now everything feels superficial to me, the whole instant gratification has, in my opinion, done more harm to listeners than to the music.

no, his face pisses me off, but I could hum along. I Drink Pink this year I'm skipping, I went last year. Get ready for an invasion of posers with money who look like beggars just to grab something from the buffet (the only reason it’s worth going, excellent).

oh I'm such an asshole, I've been hearing good things about many albums by the Residents for years, I even saw them live after dEUS in 2000, but there's no way I've felt like listening to them. I guess I'm really an asshole.

one of the main reasons why I hate the astral void of the '80s. Wishing it wouldn't reach old age would be too little. For the rest, I agree with the comment by Bianco e Nero

Kyuss metal is a disgusting piece of crap. So even Blue Cheer is metal. What do we have to listen to...

@sickman: oh well, I thought it was some underground stuff. The same stuff I was listening to back in '92. Only if you were born in '84, you heard it a few years ago, and I’ll tell you that the first Rage at the time of release was a bomb. Regardless of the political posturing. And compared to the blandness of '80s MTV rock, at least the early '90s MTV rock was a bit less contrived.
