I mean, were they the Fishbone with Mano Negra? Or were you scolding me for not mentioning Fishbone among the first crossover artists? Anyway, yes, I should mention Fishbone too, but I have to say that the little I heard back then didn’t really excite me.

they basically invented the crossover, along with the faith from the first Patton and before Rage. If I'm not mistaken, they also had the DJ with them. I also have a couple of live tracks with Mano Negra, of whom they were friends (just to emphasize the crossover of genres).

bartle, the ones you saw were still the real MMJ (who are really good live, by the way), and the reggae track was probably Off The Record from the previous album "Z". Get At Dawn, It Still Moves, and the aforementioned Z and that's it. Oh, and the cover is really ugly too!!

So you have the rush of youth, judging by some past comments, like saying Hosianna Mantra is overrated, Pet Sounds is boring (I might agree with that one). You haven't had the time to be absolutely certain about these things. Let me explain: you can write them, think them, say them, but at your age, I was absolutist (black or white) about many things too. Then you realize how few absolute things actually exist. Anyway, good for you just for listening to interesting stuff and making the effort to seek it out. Ola

But indeed, I’m definitely not criticizing you, Larrok. I should have gone to see the Rage too, but I was out for work! And I wasn’t doubting the validity of the event itself, because many friends who went said it was amazing. Maybe the release of Kosmo was more connected to the triumphalism of the review. There have been monumental events in terms of concerts in Italy, and perhaps for those who saw them back in the day, it feels strange to spend such words on a reunion. Then again, I’m not Kosmo, and everyone is free to make any concert monumental. Oh, and Kurtd, many of the wise guys in here often aren’t even 30, and that kind of makes me a bit sad... not that when you hit thirty you suddenly become great and wise, but the attitudes that circulate are often just that.

Ah, it's better for you if you can feel AUmgn with tranquility! It's strange that the albums you mentioned were my ABC at 15 (Pawn Hearts aside, another example of a tricky album). And anyway, something tells me you're not a sixteen-year-old, you're pretending. At least from the comments you've made. Am I wrong?

Perhaps, at least specifically, it means that back then it was something else; for me, going to reunions has a different effect. That said, it doesn't diminish their validity. I also prefer seeing bands that are still active rather than attending one-off reunions. I don't think it's a matter of generational hierarchy (oh, I’m older than you and I saw these bands when you were still reading Topolino), but rather simply having the luck (or foresight) to see a band when they're still in their prime instead of going to a (albeit valid based on what I've read) reunion. In my own small way, I've managed to have some fulfilling experiences at certain landmark concerts (Kyuss + Soundgarden in '95, Pearl Jam in '93, Smashing in '96), but I could also list another twenty key concerts I painfully missed (all of Radiohead from '95 onwards).

slow digestion albums: almost all kraut (if you tell me that Tago Mago is "easy" and Aumgn is not a problem, you are as fake as a €5 coin), Trout Mask Replica, the vast production of Zappa, Bark Psychosis, Yerself is Steam by Mercury Rev, Double Nickels on the Dime by Minutemen, Sleep - Jerusalem, and there are millions more. I mentioned some of MY albums that I have digested over years of listening. Then everyone has their own. Do you xyz really dive in and understand deeply every album you listen to after two or three times? I hope for you, but I doubt it. In any case, whether an album is difficult or not can also mean that maybe we simply don’t like it (and that’s that). And anyway, sometimes you find yourself not being able to understand (but then suddenly you realize after years) albums that may not be as complex as the ones mentioned, maybe simple ones that for one reason or another didn’t resonate with us at the moment of listening.

It's a shame, though, that with the explosion of the democratic route to music (p2p and so on), there has also been a corresponding hyperproduction of music, which means a lot more fluff to sift through. So the times stretch out anyway.
