I'm on the Ondaro9ck forum (like myself but obviously under false pretenses, I observe that forum as an entomologist observes insects, with clinical detachment). Having been exalted by the same site, I've kept my distance from it. Oh, maybe I'll end up hearing about it, but I play with the testicles of my neighbor's dog who is 2 years old (at most) and no one will give a damn about him anymore. I rely solely on my instincts, or on being very biased regarding certain things pumped up by certain sites/blogs, so I have a high percentage of error, but often I've been right…

The song from which Syd pulled the riff for Interstellar Overdrive seems to be Little Red Book from the first album of Love (though I think it was already a cover in itself). Not much to say about the album, perhaps the quintessential psychedelic pop balance. Much better than Pet Sounds, just to name one. There are some amazing covers of these tracks, like Alone Again Or redone by Calexico and Belle and Sebastian, or A House is Not a Motel by the Hellacopters.

It took me a while to digest the Jeffersons, or rather to contextualize them. Less modern than many others, but not because they were already old for their time; they simply weren't much of an inspiration for the rock to come (the influence of VU, USA, or the Doors is obviously greater), so they aged worse. At first, they seemed nothing more than a basic rock band to me, and I didn't understand their significance. Then I took after bathing and Crown of Creation and realized they were pretty hardcore. Unfortunately, as '60s music, they're cited everywhere, but it's obvious that an album like this is more accessible to new generations compared to Surrealistic Pillow, which can bore and seem too "normal" (the same can be said for the Grateful). However, behind all the melody, there are atmospheres that I find beautiful. And Slick is perhaps the quintessential female singer; few have managed to imitate her.

xyz as already mentioned in the Residents' rec, if it’s true that you’re 16, I would be cautious with such statements. These are two groups not even distantly related; the only thing they have in common is their geographical origin, the time period, and the similar voice between Slick and Moskowitz. It’s like saying that polo is awesome and tennis is a sport for sissies. The fact that they are both played with a ball doesn't necessarily make them comparable. In some ways, the USA has aged better, but that's not a reliable metric; some albums are products of their eras.

Well, Amazon never gives me any problems, shipping takes about a month from the order date. I use amazon.fr but I buy from market sellers for obvious economic reasons. I've ordered from Cdbox a couple of times, but it takes the same amount of time, and they let you order (and pay for) stuff that they may have already run out of, so then you're stuck and have to get some nonsense. Every now and then they have great deals, like Spine Of God for €11. But damn, Amazon is unbeatable on new releases; I’m getting stuff freshly out for €3.04 + €2.50 shipping... seems like a good price to me! @Ole: I've been "gyrating" around the spirogyra for a while now but nothing interesting comes to mind, come on, seriously sit down and write a couple of lines.

What did you buy, Ole? I'm broke but I'm about to order 6/7 records from Amazon; in the end, I can get them for 55 euros and I don't mind.

However, Fest, I must say that it provides a more concise and less bibliographic view than mine, so well done (but let's not exaggerate with the compliments) Bienvenue!

Adaptation is not bad, considering both were released in the same period.
