I never got to this point, I stopped at charged, which I already didn't like at all. For me too, To The Center isn't a masterpiece; it's a nice album and nothing more. I was also lucky enough to see them in April 2001 (the day Joey Ramone passed away) with On Trial as the opening act. Live, they really put on a show, especially the flaming gong was an absolute 70's kitsch!

In the end, I bought Pungent Effulgent for 4 euros. For now, I still have a bit of the impression of Purpulan (meaning that it's what always made me avoid them, but those were memories from '94). In the dub reggae moments, they get me hooked; in the others, not so much. But not because of being more or less pretentious, but because of the truly terrible sounds (the drums and guitar are way too '80s for me!).

I gave it as a gift to a Spanish friend of mine... anyway, great document, a bit too nostalgic, but beautiful. Especially when they even redo 7 And 7 Is in the bonuses.

@Sfascia: unfortunately, I haven't bought it for such a long time; until 2000, I didn't regularly buy any music magazines (and maybe that was for the best), but let's say that Rumore was the only one I occasionally picked up between '94 and the aforementioned 2000. Then I admit that from 2002/3 onwards, things got worse. Regarding the awful recommendations, I remember following Sorge for a highly pinkfloydian album from some I-can't-remember-which-crappy-band that turned out to be a total letdown, some pseudo-metal stuff from the late '90s with an awful voice from a wannabe singer-songwriter. Terribòl!!! @ Bartle: I wanted to review White Hills since November 2007, but then I lost the desire. Anyway, the last album (I don't know if it's the only one, but it doesn't seem so) isn't bad, very hawkwindian, and it even has a bit of plagiarism from Cream (or was it Edgar Broughton Band? Who knows?)

Hello everyone. <I respond in order@ sfascia: I mention Rumore because I've been buying it for years; it used to be a fine magazine, now it is what it is... and this is precisely what doesn’t make me dislike it, it doesn’t demand too much, unlike Blow Up. Or at least, unlike how many readers of Blow Up seem to present it. I’ve noticed a troubling following of people who hang on the words of Blow Up's reviews for every new genius they discover on a monthly basis.@Bartle: never follow old Sorge blindly; by now I can tell from the introduction of the reviews if the group is good or just the usual reheated stuff. In fact, when he is calmly enthusiastic, it means he probably hasn’t understood the record and it's valid! Today I reread his review of Pontiak, and we like the same tracks too! Oh, what do you think about Diagonal? @Ole: you absolutely need to fill the Arbouretum gap! @xyz: don’t think I’m an enthusiastic follower of new bands; in fact, today I bought and listened to Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" and looked at the pile of new releases I bought, and I felt a little tear...

you all suffer from a clear case of mass auditory hallucination, indeed induced by too much ink spilled on these posers. It’s one thing to like them—this first album is nice enough—but I challenge you to find any innovation in their proposal. And I challenge you to continue denying the absolute resemblance of their voice to Curtis (it’s like saying those losers from Clap Your Hands don’t sound like David Byrne). I repeat, at the Velvet concert in May 2002, there wasn't a single person of an acceptable age (that is, not teenagers) who didn’t say the same thing at the end of the concert. As good as they were live. Except for the bassist, who already thought he was a cross between the aforementioned Curtis and one of Kraftwerk.

Dick's book is among my favorites; the movie, in my opinion, is only visually appealing. Unfortunately, the dynamic of the observed and the observer becomes evident almost immediately, while in the book, the game holds up until almost the end. I should probably rewatch it and reread the book, but after watching it three years ago, I was somewhat disappointed.

My girlfriend thinks it's stuff for teenagers and always gives me a disapproving look when I blast it at full volume at home, but I think it's a really enjoyable album. So, did you end up becoming a dad?

I was listening to it again today and I must say it's really a nice little record, the guy's voice is amazing! Anyway, not wanting to be a snob, but so far in the Swedish revival scene, nobody can beat the Dungen from Ta Det Lugnt. Recommendations for listening/purchasing: Hush Arbors, a fuzz folk record, think Six Organs; Davila 666, a Mexican garage band published by In The Red; Roy Harper: a story in itself, a great folk singer who inspired Floyd, Zeppelin, and others, a troubled life, fantastic ideas, success at zero.zero time. Just Stormcock would be enough, but give a listen to Folkjokeopus, which is equally beautiful. Happy New Year, I’m off to cook!
