@blech: rites was one of my favorite albums of 2007, I really like it, but it's up to you to decide.@easy: I was curious to know if you liked it, I agree about the great work on the choirs and vocals, but the beats are also stunning yet enjoyable. Anyway, if only there were more off-kilter pop like this, I'm sure of that. Regarding the live performance, you're not the first to say that, even though everyone online is praising it live as well.@Ugly: thank you so much for the weekend wishes, but I'll be spending it in Germany for work, what a drag!

It feels strange to me that the new Arbouretum is liked so much, at least if the previous one was liked. They are definitely different, sometimes almost at opposite ends. A bit like with Black Mountain; if you liked the first one, don’t wrinkle your nose at In The Future. @Franci: wow, is the second installment of the Oneida trilogy coming out?

I knew you'd hate it, Giubbo! I think I was talking to you years ago about Animals on deb. As far as I remember, maybe it was Sung Tongs that I liked the most, I need to get it back.

Damn, I totally missed that! Jealousy, but you already know... and Love always kicks ass, no matter where you put it.

I just wanted to write a few lines about it, but the more I think about it, the less I feel like it... also because it would be a very borderline score, at least for me. And I agree that it lacks almost everything that made Rites so special. I mean, it sounds good, and two or three tracks are great, especially the two in the middle, but given the expectations, I was hoping for something more. Or rather, something different from a typical hard rock album, which in the end is what Song of the Pearl is.

But come on, for you the new Arbouretum is just a half-hearted effort?? Or rather very "normal" compared to the previous one.

Hi Ale. As I said, I’m not one to tear my hair out over animals, maybe that's why I can enjoy this album without overthinking it. I think it's a fun album, with a dip in the middle, but it has a strange addictive power that makes me listen to it often, something that hasn’t happened with any of the previous ones. And whether they were better before, bla bla bla, I couldn't care less; since it's not my favorite cup of tea, I won’t get into that discussion. I have few data on 2009, meaning I’ve heard few interesting albums (but in the end, I downloaded quite a few). I need to revisit Auerbach’s album; for now, it gets a lukewarm welcome, but nothing more. The album I like the most from 2009 is the latest from Julie's Haircut, for which I just sent the review last night. I really like it, unexpectedly.
