Dimmu Borgir Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia

I like (if that's the right word) the definitions that pop up every time a little punk from the gutter decides to review an extreme music album. Besides the fact that there’s nothing extreme here except for Nick Barker's speed, who's a machine. "Brutal symphonic black." Scary even to "the most violent Cannibal Corpse." A truly extreme example, considering the two bands have nothing to do with each other. In reality, this album, unfortunately, following "spiritual black tadada," is completely devoid of ideas. Orchestras are no longer enough to add some decency. Bad lyrics and titles (??) or the charismatic presence of a completely denatured Shagrath are not enough to make black metal, not even symphonic. There’s absolutely no trace of it here. Dimmu are now theatrical, but indeed, it’s all aesthetics, packaging. Unfortunately, they won't find their way back to their beginnings (those, yes; ah, the gothic and desolate atmospheres of For All Tid!), and the following album, Death Cult Armageddon (which I absolutely must manage to sell to some fool), is simply embarrassing.

The attitude is clearly not that of BM you refer to in your review, but the return to the sounds and songwriting of the genre's origins (a real research work on their part!) brings it close, seriously, to Punk. And BM and Punk have quite a few things in common (I reaffirm my 5 for this album).

Don't worry, these are just my thoughts. As for the topic of video, I was imprecise. I wasn't referring to the content of the videos themselves, but rather to "when" the musicians are framed. In those moments, it becomes immediately clear that it's an Italian group (without taking anything away from the music, of course, but the way their own favorites behave in front of the camera is, in almost all cases, embarrassing).

It's strange that no one ever mentions Cadaveria's ridiculous English singing (truly incapable of pronouncing even the most basic words). Opera IX has been around for a long time, and I certainly have nothing to say about their content and value; they've had great moments and inspired several bands despite their background. One single note (multiple, to be honest): 1) why is it that among all Italian bands, and I mean any genre, there isn’t a single one that stands out in the "video-music" field?; 2) why do so many suffer from an inherent lack of originality, resulting in an embarrassing and out-of-place way of writing songs (and singing them...)?; 3) instead of singing in pathetic English, why not sing... I don't know... in made-up Norwegian?; after all...
