@trellheim: 300 has nothing to do with Hollywood? Is it not a blockbuster? The film "is" the comic, and therefore "is" the comic that is racist? Until proven otherwise, 300 IS Hollywood, indeed, it IS the direct emanation of today's Hollywood film industry. Secondly, IT IS a blockbuster. You wouldn't say it's an independent film, or with few extras, or with a sparse and inexpensive set. Moreover, the film is NOT the comic. The film is the film; it has its own independence; it is a product in itself. If it had been like Blatter, it would have been distributed on a DVD attached to the comic, and the target audience would have been linked to the original comic. Instead, it went to theaters and is at the top of the box office charts, and 90 percent of the audience that saw it has NEVER read the comic. Then... how can you say that "there are no special effects"? Such a statement is pure madness. And even if we're to entertain such idiocy, until proven otherwise, the blue screen IS a special effect, and not only because it requires separate work in post-production, but because it’s a process that "adds" foreign elements to the reference image.

"films like this, made with a vomitous incompetence and inertia but with the pretensions of a film that expects to be successful." that's precisely where the difference lies, Hetzer. that's exactly it. but I mean, the scene where Tomba crashes through a door backwards, slamming full force against the stiff wood of the frame (really hurting himself), while Hunziker escapes towards record levels of unbearable... I mean... scenes like this truly are priceless.
