Alejandro Amenábar Mare Dentro

I haven't said anything about Bardem's performance, which is indeed very good. What I meant is that this great performance is poorly managed, in the sense that it needed to be somewhat restrained. Nor did I comment on the performances of the other actors. The grandfather is very good and fitting, Manuela's character works well, they all work in the end. What I tried to explain, through a series of motivations I believe are not alien to the film in question, is that Mare Dentro is a spectacle filled with very important and profound elements, but these are taken for granted and presented as if it were already clear to everyone that the "viewer" should fully identify with this story, as if pressing PLAY or entering the theater established a contract of identification that everyone agrees to, committing themselves not to ask questions and not to demand anything. I believe this is a serious mistake in a film like this, for the simple fact that such an approach leads to chain reactions that aim straight towards results that, in my opinion, are "objectively" disastrous. Perhaps those who really enjoyed the film may have something to say about the language I used, but I invite them to evaluate it from a less emotional and more clinical perspective.
