the review is exciting, and the album... oh my goodness... what an album!!

Let me preface by saying I've always steered clear of Consoli, but this album is truly excellent. It's normal to read the comments that precede mine. How many of you have listened to the album? Zero percent? No, I was being too generous. Just take a look at "Maria Catena" (what a song!). You can feel the quality, guys, and there are no stylistic tricks (which are actually spot-on) or prejudices to consider. Consoli doesn't make music I’m particularly fond of (not at all), but if an album is good, it's good, period.

I would like to remind Tepes that for this album the M. used 8-string guitars, specially built by a friend of theirs (not to mention tuning in G...). The pickups of these beasts were treated with wax to amplify the low tones as faithfully as possible. They did it in this album for experimental reasons, and given the results, they decided to keep them and use them for other works as well (Catch 33 is played with those. So it's crazy to say "destroy erase is better..." - the M. are always evolving while comparisons lag behind...)

It sounds like a radio announcement. And the CoF have anyway gotten stuck in imitating themselves. A disposable review.

I agree with every word of this review, even though 4 stars is too much.

hahahahaha, sorry I'm not mad... it's just that Meshuggah are way too important ;)

I listened to them a few years ago. They weren't bad at all. Then luckily I found this review, I had completely forgotten about them.

It's time to stop mentioning D.E.I. in EVERY Meshuggah review! That era (and every Meshuggah fan should know this well) is OVER. Thank goodness it’s over. If it were up to those reviewing them, they should have stopped at that album. Try searching online for Meshuggah reviews: there isn't one that doesn't mention that damn album. As for this review, one cannot help but agree with CAZ (tremendously metal), and I would add inaccurate. 1) Because Chaosphere doesn’t abandon jazz nuances; rather, it deepens them, to the point of making them a cornerstone of many tracks (not to mention all the solos); 2) Saying that Nothing "completely ignores the rules" is a bit hasty: rather, it is "rigorous," having begun the era of the monolith that still lasts today; 3) "No longer the booming voice of Future Breed Machine"?!? What does that even mean?! I wonder if you’ve heard the difference between (the omnipresent) D.E.I., Chaosphere, and Nothing, not to mention between I and Catch 33.
