asdf Zappa was an attentive listener, and he looked around a lot both from a musical standpoint (just look at what he said and did in the '60s, even mocking the Beatles and the hippies) and a social one (listen to the records from the '70s/'80s about Reagan and disco music), so what you say is unfair to a master who was always observant and never trivial.

Because it wasn't just this... simple, reread Zappa's sentence, maybe you didn't read it well.

In fact, that's what I said: everything that emerged in the eighties is mostly garbage. Sure, there’s also some excellent music, but the 80s highlighted much more than that.

RingoStarfish “the eighties were a unique and unrepeatable world (AND THANK GOODNESS) WTTP was a symbol of that era, of vacuity (EXACTLY), kitsch aesthetics (EXACTLY) and so, so, so many wonders (almost all still to be re-evaluated) (WHICH ONES, SORRY, THOSE YOU MENTION BELOW?) Long live Hyeronimus drive-in and big scores (REMEMBERING AN ERA FOR THESE THINGS IS DEFINITELY SAD)”

egebamyasi, talk to me a little about the '80s since you know about them and you also want to talk about them positively.
John Coltrane Giant Steps
Voto:
Masterpiece album, although Flanagan is not outstanding (though this does not undermine the undeniable beauty of all the compositions) due to some difficulties in maintaining Coltrane's rhythmic phase (too fast and too "forward"), as the pianist himself would later admit, who would make ample amends in 1982 with a little-known but deserving masterpiece like "Giant Steps - In Memory of John Coltrane" featuring George Mraz on bass and Al Foster on drums.

The early eighties gifted us MTV, and music changed forever, transforming itself from an audio medium to a video one. Music is meant to be consumed through the ears, and no one will ever take that away from me. To feel something positive about the eighties, one would have to step outside the human condition, because in the eighties, there was very little true human condition, and that little was not safeguarded. The only way to appreciate the eighties is to not consider them at all.
Frank Zappa). And I agree. The third one is good.

The early eighties gave us MTV, and music changed forever, transforming from audio to a video medium. Music should be consumed through the ears, and no one will ever take that from my mind. To hear something positive about the eighties, one would need to step outside the human condition because in the eighties, there was very little real human condition, and that little was not safeguarded. (Frank Zappa). And I subscribe to that. The only way to appreciate the eighties is to not consider them at all.
