Malmsteen didn't invent anything except his "pretty tough" face. The Iron, as much as all their CDs sound the same, should be analyzed album by album. The first album had enormous impact in the music world, then they always did that (even today), but that's a different discussion. Anyway, did you read what he said? Do you agree or, like other clever ones, do you think Bruce is also talking nonsense? And then what metal bands are there in the late '60s? Some trace it back, you said. So it's not certain! Also because the best of that period I know is hard rock. Anyway, I will search and listen. Thanks for the advice.

You might want to say that today's metal has nothing to do with Iron Maiden? Nonsense! Maybe it has very little? Who knows! Anyway, if it weren't for them, Metallica would never have been what they were, and other metal bands you listen to would be doing alternative now!

Do you want the facts? The first official album by Iron (and it’s metal, even if not as heavy as Kill 'Em All) is from '80 (it was actually called Iron Maiden) not to mention that they released an unofficial one in 1979 called The Soundhouse Tapes. When do you think metal was born, in 1750?

Music is art. Metal is part of music just like any other genre. Thus, metal can be artistic if it is original, unique, and special.
Being the first to have played a new genre means being a historic band and therefore being artists.
