Vai and Satriani are geniuses... in terms of harmony, solos, technique, composition, and expressiveness. It's impossible for them to bore me.

The Manilla Road are absolutely amazing... "Astronomica" and "Metalstorm" are legendary songs. Great review for an album that has not yet (unfortunately) been rediscovered.

a poser.. let's hang him!! I'm listening to the album now, and I'm not liking it at all... usually verbose and boring, occasionally interesting in some parts...

I'm sorry... maybe we just shouldn't start from prejudices...

Joe Satriani Surfing With The Alien

I'm only feeling this now (and I regret it), despite being a lover of the guitar and guitar heroes in general. Well, this Satriani I had so underestimated (and could only listen to in a few G3 shows and a couple of other albums) excited me a lot. Surfin' with the Alien is masterful, more beautiful than the various Passion & Warfare, Flying in a Blue Dream, and all the albums of guitarists like Petrucci, V. Moore, Fripp, Johnson, Zappa, etc.

The album anyway (and this seems to be a totally subjective opinion) is the most beautiful one they’ve made so far… (I haven't listened to all of glory to the brave though…)
Hammerfall Legacy Of Kings

I really love HammerFall; it's totally wrong to label them as crap for the usual excuses like "they're worn out" and "they can't play" (which isn't true anyway...). The album is amazing, but I don't agree on several points in the track by track. The title track is stunning, "Stronger Than All" is a real battle horse, "The Fallen One" a fantastic ballad, while "Remember Yesterday" and "Dreamland" (as nice as the latter is) are perhaps the most anonymous. However, I agree with the judgment^^
