I like how you think, holdencaulfield. The gap you’re talking about, in my opinion, can only be explained by the fact that rock, like other musical genres, has produced high-level musicians, while Hip Hop has produced far fewer.
Honestly, where are the various Sandinista, Violator, Blonde on Blonde, Transformer—where are the damn good records from this movement?
It’s been thirty years of good records, and honestly, I’ve never really heard any at least at the level of those I mentioned above.
