Nile Annihilation Of The Wicked

Great review for a fantastic album. One observation: I don’t find Nile artificial, nor baroque (sooner or later purists will get mad at this term!!!). Or rather, if they are artificial, then many other bands are too (and I won't name names, since there are still flames going on about my reviews, and I’m honestly tired of responding to them). I would simply say “hard to listen to.” Anyway, it's a perfect blend of violence and experimentation. It’s worth a couple of listens to really get the idea.

A beautiful album, but I wouldn't call it death metal!

You hear the album and listen to it again, and it stays in your mind: that’s all there is to it. They aren’t so different from the much-maligned Green Day, even if (just like them) their very first stuff is listenable. As for the rest, we’ve had enough of punk posers!

The review is truly remarkable for an album unjustly overlooked by many.

What a drag :) are you really making a fuss over the 'h'?!?!? Okay, okay, I know it's spelled thrash (and I get pissed off too if they write it as "garbage").

Who cares that you’re a teacher, I repeat, we’re not at school... what a guilty conscience, please...

For "chioccetta": I don't understand what the hell the "chronological dating" of the Woodstock event has to do with anything. The point is: they got mud thrown in their faces, they deserved it artistically, period. It's not such a recent event, fine: but what does that change about what I wanted to say? And who are you, a music historian? Scaruffi? Mollica(!)? Challenge me about the CONTENT of the review, NOT the form, the dating, or the fact that I can't spell the singer's name correctly: that's too easy. What the hell, you're acting too much like a spelling teacher that wants to know the dates. We're not in school, try to wake up a little bit. By the way, this is true art: "[...]Now, okay, everyone’s ideas should be respected (sic), but at this point, some people I would feel like castrating with a knife like the ones used to slaughter pigs (sic) so at least for a while I avoid reading comments from people who criticize others' musical tastes because they don’t know what the hell to do all day (sic)![...]” What can I say: long live democracy (not to mention Green Day)!

Despite obsessively owning every one of their albums, I still can't bring myself to fully enjoy them, except for "Something Wild" and its associated masterpieces...

not bad (better than the album), but we are close to "sterile repetition," which says little for an epochal band. Perhaps the usual 4 chords are enough to warm our hearts as rockers, but... it could have been better, and more (in substance).
Should you listen to it? Not really, but if you really want to...
