I totally agree on the complete disappointment... church organs, symphony-the-most-beautiful-thing-t here-is, amateurish distortion, and so many of those overly abused epic choirs that make you sick. No excuses, it's excruciatingly boring and even worse than the previous one. But how can they at metallus say it's a 9.5 record?! Then people believe it...

It's been more than a year since I've been getting comments on this review: what a story!

Hello everyone, I'm always glad to be read... unfortunately (at the moment) I hardly have time to browse Debaser and especially to write new reviews, between work and various commitments... I'll try to make up for it as soon as possible, assuming it interests someone :) @Lethe: I included symphonic death because I found some significant glimpses of that 'trend.' Honestly, I don't remember the precise motivation... my mind!!!!

What often leaves me perplexed (without this being an insult towards Mars) when I read the comments on my reviews is this tendency to attribute to me intellecualisms of dubious authenticity ("Let’s try not to fall into the borie of the learned of Vichy's memory"): heavy metal was Motorhead, Judas Priest, and a thousand others, with fairly different styles and themes, while the early Manowar shamelessly sought to "epicify" their sound (something that had only been hinted at until then). The subsequent albums are definitely another thing.

My favorite remains "Elements"; this has never truly captured me. Good review!

Despite listening to it quite often (much less than lately), it has never fully convinced me: decent sound and good attitude, but I don't find it particularly original, not to mention that it sounds (in my opinion) rather "flat," not to say stereotypical. It might seem crazy, but it has always felt like a cocktail between the beautiful "Trail of tears" and the rest of the album: much less engaging and authentic than what is written in the review (good anyway).
CCCP - Fedeli alla linea 1964-1985. Affinità-divergenze fra il compagno Togliatti e noi...

I return after a long time to a "old" discussion, and I'm happy to talk about it: I know that "negro" is NOT an insult, even though for many it becomes one. But that's not the point. I can also agree that Ferretti was not referencing the America of Pere Ubu and the Velvet Underground (if nothing else, because it’s hard to believe he could have known who the hell they were at the time): for sure, he was thinking about American stereotypes, the bluesmen, the "slaves in the cotton plantations," just to understand with a well-worn expression. However, "reasoning" in that way, with that saying everything and the opposite of everything, just for the (healthy) pleasure of provoking and committing verbal violence, doesn't make him much different from those who, years ago, babbled nonsense about "Aryan music" (Burzum): the context is different, but the content is identical, and I don’t think it's a stretch. The vast majority of rock (with the necessary exceptions, which don't matter much here) has been influenced by blues music; it is, in my opinion, anti-historical to insist otherwise. Completely distancing oneself means having the knowledge and means to do so, see for example the Area. Ferretti's attitude was (and has remained) that of someone who hears about "certain things" in party meetings and at Unity festivals without being able, despite himself, to understand much. After all, the CCCP were destabilizing; they certainly didn't want to finely sing the praises of the USSR! Otherwise, it almost seems like they become an expression of "cultured" music intended for a very select audience, which would render them (I repeat) classist, ridiculous, and useless (which I don’t think they are at all). Or not?
