I wanted to say... A bit "in the style of" Keith Jarrett :))

Odra, I started from here and I would say it’s a great start!!! I have to say you’ve infected me with the passion for samples... so I added a few! As for the slaps on the piano, damaskinos, perhaps our Stefano is becoming a bit of a showman like Keith Jarrett. What can I say, guys? Genius and recklessness!!

I don't know this album... but after reading your review, I absolutely have to check it out! Fluid and engaging review. Congratulations!!!

Hal, "Lament" (in memory of Luigi Nono) has been on my shopping list for a while, but unfortunately I still don't have it... :( And on the shopping list there’s also another CD where Schnittke and Kancheli are paired precisely because of their similarities!!! It's the concertos for viola with Kim Kashkashian (whom I met on the beautiful CD with Keith Jarrett, for which I have a review in the works...). Bye and... enjoy the always excellent and evocative Hilliard :))

So true, Hal :)) Indeed, this is an album that is far from easy... I admit that my encounter with these tracks, of austere and tormented beauty, has struck me: I couldn't let them go, and this music has entered my heart foreverandever... Of course, there are times when I go through long periods without listening to it, or rather, without being able to listen to it. But then one day, a particular mood arises, some unease, and I find myself returning to these chords as one always returns to a trusted friend. A friend who always knows how to listen, even in its silences :) Bye, J.O.P.

Perhaps the current period brings me closer to the "palpable and concrete anguish of a Bob Dylan," but the review is enticing and curiosity is piqued (sitar and harpsichords!). I'll keep in mind the "nursery rhyme risk," but I truly believe that sooner or later I will savor it...

Yes, ptr... But in my opinion, this is superior to "Officium". I've still included a couple of samples, the opening of the closed-mouth choir and the closing of the fourth piece. Cheers, J.O.P.

Here’s a cover of "I See a Darkness" that might just be better than the original (and with this, I've said it all). And there's an intro with "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty that is definitely better than the original. Great album.
Johann Sebastian Bach - Mischa Maisky Suites Per Violoncello 1-6
Voto:
"Musical heritage of humanity" and "state of bliss." How better to define Johann Sebastian Bach? And this "tribute" by odradek is truly beautiful. Bach is the absolute... especially in certain works like these suites or in the "Art of Fugue" or even in the "Musical Offering." Listening to immense interpretations like this one by Maisky or that of Rostropovich or (if I may add) those of Thomas Demenga, reveals each time how every artist manages to capture an original and ever-new facet of Bach's music that makes it relevant and "transcultural" even after 250 years. But I believe Bach will remain "contemporary" forever. He is a composer who will always survive. Just like that theme that bears his name "B flat-A-C-B" (BACH, indeed, in German musical notation) in which so many composers (even contemporary ones) have engaged... Applause to an open stage, odra!

Hal, you're embarrassing me!!! Anyway, THANK YOU for making me listen to Schubert all day long... As a perfect novice, I struggled quite a bit with these samples... But now here they are :)) For today, of course, I've also included the opening of Ida Lupino!!!
