Sorry Frantz for the confusion from work-break :)) No, no, Vivaldi here is out of place with his poor tortured "4 seasons"... not to fall into the hypercriticism of Stravinsky who said that Vivaldi did not write hundreds of concertos, but one single one, repeated hundreds of times. I am still hopefully awaiting "Land of the Sun"... and maybe something on Bach, after the Suites for cello reviewed by odradek!!! Aloha!

Ucci, let me clarify... the review is "objectively" beautiful, while my 3 was purely "subjective" :)) And I completely agree with you that listening to Nick feels like having a friend by your side!!! Having seen and reconsidered everything... I vote again ;)) Bye, JoP

Among the CDs I would take with me to a desert island, this one could never be missing. A cornerstone, a point of reference, a true musical compass. The review is well written, but... very, very far from my way of experiencing this music. Drake is as far from "thinking positively" as one could imagine, especially in "Pink Moon." Perhaps appearances, a superficial reading might give this impression, but for the rest... I completely agree with ringhiostarr. The malaise of living, the chaos, the uncertainty about the meaning of life, this is Drake. The questioning of why I have to get out of bed every day to live a life I did not choose to live. And yet, still living it. Trying to find strength until scraping my soul. Only to perhaps succumb one day (as unfortunately happened with Nick) but not without having fought, and hard. Maybe gifting us masterpieces like this one.

Great Grass, synonymous with excellent quality and choices always in great taste! Just the song "Don't give up" would be enough to give this extraordinary album a solid 5. Aside from Kate Bush, however, that is one of the most depressing songs I have ever heard... "For every job, so many men... so many men no-one needs." Not to be listened to during moments of sadness, because it has too, too much pain inside.

Nice review, primiballi! The reference to the limbo-fog in which to fully enjoy this album is really beautiful. Well, if Frantz doesn't quite agree with the spring-summer Vasco, I'm not entirely on board with the "winter" Bach... With a thousand and more works, I would say that good old Johann Sebastian is a composer for all seasons and all states of mind (not to mention he's immortal, beyond all time). On another note, I'm also waiting for the review of "Land of the Sun"! Saludos ;))

Thanks to everyone for the comments, guys!!! Considering the posts I've read on other reviews lately, we're still in a happy little island here!!! ;)) Special thanks to frantz for the comments about Paula. You're always a keen listener, frantz, from Chick Corea to Brazilian music!!! Special thanks also to Grass for the vote of confidence (well-deserved by Tom) and to Hal (as usual!). Wizard and rancid, behave yourselves, okay... even though Wizard's 1 on the album makes me doubt if he’s ever heard it.... Hasta luego! JoP

Philip Glass The Hours

Music that I find rather flat and uniform. An album in which I can glimpse quite a bit of musical craftsmanship from Glass. Personally, it doesn't excite me, and over time, a thread of boredom has crept in. On the contrary, the review is truly beautiful and touching. An example of how each of us has our own strings in the heart, and music knows how to pluck them in each person in a different way.

Hi Antonio! No, damn it, I don't know Martyn and Cockburn! But I've noted them down, and I’ll look for something soon, very soon :)) This is indeed one of the albums where Will Oldham's "singer-songwriter" style stands out the most, and maybe that's why the record feels a bit raw (as Simon Lair said). But... as soon as you can... check out all the albums Oldham released under the moniker Bonnie "Prince" Billy. Especially "I see a darkness." A chilling album. It's always been close to my CD player since 1999 up to today. Bye and see you soon ;))

Hi antoniodeste! Always a pleasure to read you! Yes, in this album I think there are many analogies with Drake, especially in the sounds and the "mood." Will Oldham's voice, however, is very different, more fragile and painful. Simon Lair puts it perfectly: Will's "tuned out of tune" moments are unmissable!!! Hi and... look forward to reading you soon!!! J.O.P ;))
