Simply, I assert, commenting on a review that assigns 5/5 to Dream Theater without particular arguments, that: 1) they can play like monsters, but they don’t have an innovative sound; 2) before marveling and claiming that the album is a gem, one should listen to more progressive music (ever heard of "Selling England By The Pound?"); 3) the list of sound citations I made serves to argue what I've stated, that it’s a kaleidoscope of references. If I had just stated it, I would have unconstructively belittled the band (which I’m not doing, or hasn’t that been understood?); 4) Dream songs resemble the great classics of progressive rock not because there are only seven notes, but because the band deliberately quotes those passages to give a touch of "coolness" to their tracks. If you haven’t understood this, it means you don’t listen to Dream Theater, because even Petrucci and Portnoy wouldn’t be ashamed to admit it. 5) as for Concato and Spagna: I’m not saying the Dreams copy these artists, I’m saying that they often derive into pop and into melodic progressions so banal that it borders on the ridiculous. (Rather, did I understand correctly or do you dislike Concato? I could argue with you about considering a comparison with Concato's melody an insult. Concato's fans might take offense in turn, right?). Think about it a bit... :-)

Hello Claudio, no offense (you are polite and registered, you can say whatever you want!!!!!!!). Your reasoning would hold water, if it weren't for the fact that I am NOT upset with Marco. I'm not interested in proving my musical knowledge: I don't think I've listed such an exorbitant number of bands, just 5 or 6 by my rough estimate. Instead, I'm afraid you want to show us that you're a good person, very very good, and we are very happy that you are. And here too it would make sense, except that I'm not even a bad person!
