Without bands like these, neither "the Anglosaxon Doom of the '90s nor that of formations like Sleep or similar ones" would exist. Little, but sure! Sometimes in the Centrale area, avoiding stalls, little shops, and the like, is as lifesaving as going equipped with a radiation suit in space.

Verdena Fan Blog: Comparsa nel film "I soliti Idioti" - I believe this news greatly qualifies the idea of "universal-mediaset-pop" that I referred to in previous comments.

Verdena, or the litmus test of the musical growth process in Italy over the last 10 years. Beginning: alternative. First middle phase: alternative-rock. Second middle phase: alternative-rock-pop. Final phase: teenage-pop-rock. Terminal phase: universal-mediaset-pop. The first one who comes out with the nonsense of "we're an original band," today (in 2013), should be admitted immediately. This album manages, in my humble opinion, to achieve two simultaneous and contradictory records: best Italian production after the year 2000, worst lyrics ever after the year 2000. And so, let's go with the counter-information: - - - - Just to enjoy...

As much as the film excellently reconstructs one of the darkest periods in world history and surpasses the qualitative average of poor historical dramas in recent years, (I may be wrong) but I see in this film an extreme nationalist rhetoric. I didn't dislike the film, I admit: but while it manages to evoke the wild scent of the Iranian Middle East of the early '80s, the film's only real merit, the "American" scenes are so trite they approach the embarrassing. The ending (which I won't reveal) really disappointed me, steering the story toward a moral that I didn't appreciate and find counterintuitive in relation to the human experience of the hostages, their personalities, and weaknesses. All in all, it still results in a good film, full of pathos and moderately gripping. And then, I say, if Ben Affleck can direct a film like this and be multiple-awarded, just imagine what the current state of the U.S. artistic landscape must be like. For at least five years, Asia and Northern Europe have been qualitatively much, much more creative and compelling...

"Purity." A truly troubling term... People like this have indirectly enjoyed extraordinary creative feedback that waned in the second half of the '90s, the power of which has continued to propagate to this day, just as Pulsars or Quasars radiate energy into space billions of years after their stellar dissolution. CCCP, CSI, Marlene Kuntz, Santo Niente, Negazione, One Dimensional Man, Wolfango, and even the (somewhat less to my liking) Afterhours have undeniably created a scene that was initially more than non-existent: the Italian one. Surely, I am forgetting a lot of other people, and I take pleasure in thinking of the Fluxus, but stuff like what you proposed in your review clashes heavily with the tragic reality of the facts: that of a country that barely sees young proposals come together to start from scratch, no longer generating, creating, or protesting (more or less indirectly) through musical art understood as a form of free expression and existential upheaval. This behavior, currently regarded as foolish and counterproductive, was called INDEPENDENT PUNK or ROCK. Of the spirit of independence, only the slogan "Indie" remains, turned into a logo, uniform, and conforming for exclusive commercial purposes. But the tragic reality is that none of the bands you described enjoys full productive and decision-making independence in what they peddle to the adolescent and post-adolescent Italian public. Personally, I have nothing against any of the members of the band you reviewed, but in 2013, in THIS Italy, it is time to start remembering what the past was and why we find ourselves in this damned and annoying present. People like Godano or Palazzo did not end up where they are just for nothing...

Under-under-undersub-ground. Scary, I heard something and it fits. If these were the Italian cover bands of the time... the relationship with the present is dizzying! Great suggestion.

You are the first person to call me an optimist! I reiterate: for me, this TV series represents the present; the future is even worse. Golden age? Yes, the cash age..

This 'TV series' represents the PRESENT, not the future. I'm afraid the future will be even worse than it is depicted in this show. Far from dystopia... Kudos for the suggestion, this stuff should be broadcasted 24/7 on all TV/web/radio channels. At least the mass media would serve some purpose this way. The world is becoming something revolting. One day, we will pay the damn price for it.
