I rarely read you for time reasons, Paolo, but your irony and your friendliness, which are reminiscent of a TV host for an afternoon RAI program, are irresistible.

I, as a perfect equation, would say QUEEN + CUGINI DI CAMPAGNA = DARKNESS.

....by the way "Are you receiving me" is my favorite track from the album (even though it's a bonus) along with "Battery Brides". Thank you for the valuable shopping advice; I had been considering buying something else from Xtc for a while, and I hadn't thought about the idea of a compilation yet.

@supersoul: so if I missed everything does that mean "Go 2" is nothing?

P.S.: I only have "Go 2" by XTC (I got tricked by the cover), did I happen to miss something???

@Supersoul: it's too easy to pick the two most trivial episodes of a worthy and anything but obvious album like "A Broken Frame" to say that the DM were acne-ridden and adolescent. I have never listened to "Forever Now" (apart from the stunning "My Love Way") for comparisons, but it's not hard to believe that the Furs have written better than those two tracks (probably leftovers from the previous LP); in fact, it's likely that I could manage to do the same. If the DM have so many reviews on Debaser compared to other older historical bands, it's not because they are overrated but rather a matter of: 1) relevance (Frank Sinatra and Domenico Modugno are also greats, but they have 3 reviews between them because young people don’t pay much attention to them) 2) as the good pixies77 says, the number of releases (if the Velvet Underground made three albums and the DM more than a dozen...). If you tell me that the DM are overrated because they sold a ridiculous amount compared to equally talented bands, I can understand, but if you say they are overrated because they haven't done anything musically relevant, I’ll do like Hon. Scalfaro and say, "I’m not playing this game of massacre"!

At the time, I read that at the last date of the Devotional tour, good Dave dove into the crowd from the stage (something many did, but that stage was particularly high), resulting in several fractures and internal injuries. He was definitely at the end of his rope.

The opinions of those who fully experienced the era in question are always interesting and authoritative, but not infallible, like all opinions. For example, I find that many of those who spent their twenties in the eighties grew up with the dogmas and mental frameworks of the time (e.g.: Ultravox without Foxx are rubbish, the Cure don’t exist after 1982, Depeche Mode are commercial and thus overrated, and Duran Duran are listened to by the paninari, so their entire discography sucks). In my opinion, these are mental closures that do not provide a balanced artistic assessment of music but merely a viewpoint. Therefore, I welcome the "reassessments" from younger folks who didn’t experience the era at all or who, like me, only brushed against it.
