Front 242 Front By Front

Drum machine oscillating between martial and tribal, a rhythmic carpet of synths, various noisy effects, sampled voices, and vocals that straddle the robotic and the austere. They work on the dancefloor but sound flat and uninspired when listening. They've aged terribly.
Jean-Pierre Jeunet Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain
Voto:
Same director as "Delicatessen," same slightly "cartoonish" style. I’ve only seen it once, when it came out in theaters, but I still have a good memory of it.

Indeed, I’ve toned it down a bit; the original guitar style is fine, but aside from the title track, the other songs aren't exactly exceptional in terms of composition, and Verlaine’s voice is a bit unrefined (it will improve, especially with the solo works). A 4 is more than enough.
Antonio Di Pietro, Gianni Barbacetto Il Guastafeste
Voto:
I find Di Pietro likable and I think he is honest too, but he is not a "good" politician precisely because he struggles to make compromises (and politics is all about compromise). Essentially, he is more of a hassle for his allies than for his opponents.
Dark Day Collected

Well done, but the people of Debaser would appreciate this project even more if you added some samples too.

These days I was thinking about which album to buy, and your review has enlightened me.
Hayao Miyazaki Ponyo Sulla Scogliera
Voto:
Great Miyazaki, master of vision even if some of his works do stumble in terms of narrative flow.

Anyway, yes, Yoshihide is a genius.
Ground Zero Revolutionary Pekinese Opera ver. 1.28

You forgot to mention that much of all this stuff was obtained by Ground Zero by openly reworking the 1984 track "Peking-Oper" by the German composer duo Goebbels and Harth, which was already quite good on its own. The traditional music that has been rehashed and messed around with is Chinese (hence the title) and not Japanese (even if the alien taste of the work is entirely Japanese). Personally, I find it a very fun record both for the playful quality it exudes and for the contrast between ancient music and contemporary musical techniques. However, it is true that after listening to the original source mentioned above, I somewhat revised my opinion.

No, I'm from Vicenza just like DJ Emi, the only one I know; to be honest, I've never heard of the other two DJs performing tonight. Emi has been a prominent figure in the dark-wave-ebm-industrial-etc. scene in the province of Vicenza for at least a dozen years, regularly playing in venues like Totem and Vinile or the now-defunct Interno 20, and contributing to the organization of events like the one we just witnessed. Until seven or eight years ago, I used to frequent those places often; now, with family and children, much less.
