Haruki Murakami Noruwei No Mori (Norwegian Wood-Tokyo Blues)
Voto:
Read a bit too long ago, but from that book I remember a suicide without explanations and adolescence viewed as a golden age, as if the rest of life were merely a backdrop to it. I definitely liked it more than the stories "Tokyo Decadence" by its almost namesake and fellow countryman mentioned in the review (even though the film turned out well for him).

I don’t have a very clear memory of the evening, but a "dark" Filipina girl isn’t something you see every day, and connecting Death In June with Modena made me recall memories I thought I had buried. Anyway, don’t worry, I didn’t mean to be indiscreet; I don’t want to know anything more. I wish you a great concert for Sad Lovers and..., I won’t be there because I only know the band by name and I've never looked into them. If you could, let me know how it went!

Yes, so it was the same concert; I also thought they had done it before... subsequently, I attended a sort of mini-festival there that had Clan Of Xymox as the headlining band. DIJ that evening didn’t really excite me, with that acoustic guitar the songs all sounded the same, but to be honest, I was never a fan of his; I only went because it was 5 KM from home. At least he made my insides jump into my throat, those hits I'll remember for a long time... then there was the idiot who, at the end of his concert, went on stage to rant about Haider, Hitler, and the like (rightly receiving insults from the audience). That evening, I think I exchanged a few words with a group from Modena; was there a Filipina girl among your friends?

I think I might have been to that Death In June concert as well, but it wasn't at the Totem; they played under a tent near a small lake, at Torri di Quartesolo. Unless we're talking about two different concerts.... Boyd Rice was there too, right?

"but I'm sure this album is worthy of at least a glance." Just a glance, certainly not a listen.
Heather Parisi Le Più Belle Canzoni

At the time of Parisi's greatest fame, I was attending kindergarten, and I remember that her songs were quite popular (Cristina D'Avena had yet to explode). Now it seems she lives near Arzignano, in the province of Vicenza, and is the partner of an industrialist (I mention this for the reviewer who hopes to meet her). The review deserves a passing grade because at least it entertains me, which is increasingly rare here on Debaser.

I found it very touching as well. Too bad for the commercial break.

I indeed don’t like this creeping Chinese colonialism either, but unfortunately it seems that many non-Chinese find it convenient this way. As for Mugabe, he reminds me a bit of those Cambodian "leaders" from the late 70s who took it out on the "rich" by expropriating their possessions to make the "people work." The result was always hunger, and to think that Orwell had already written "Animal Farm" in 1945.
One question then comes to mind: if China is this way because of the West, and if Africa is this way because of colonialism, do you think Italy is in these conditions because of the Austro-Hungarian Empire or the Bourbons? And another one: do you think Pope Ratzinger doesn’t use a condom?
Josef K Entomology
Voto:
Ladies and gentlemen, this is a great group. While a sound so typically post-punk may not have been unique at the time, Haig had superior songwriting and melodic taste, making them the best example of the blend between punk harshness and pop brightness. Personally, I even prefer them to the truly great Joy Division or the very early Cure. The review is well done, although I don't find "a punch in the gut" to be an appropriate term for a JK record; instead, I appreciate the phrase "with one foot in the grave and one on the dance floor," which would fit even better in a review of the great A Certain Ratio that Alessioiride recalls. I will refrain from giving a rating to the compilation; the music deserves a 5, but I don't understand the purpose of the operation since it adds nothing to what has already been published; perhaps they did it just to put Josef K back on the new releases shelf.
