I lean towards the label "dark wave" or more broadly "post-punk" because this album really has little to do with rock. Nothing could be further from the guitar-driven sound of the Sisters (thankfully).

EGEBAMYASI: "I sometimes find their experiments a bit childish." And I believe you, they were inspired by Dadaism... For me, this is truly a great record, original and "groundbreaking" like few others, but also mature and well-focused, perhaps because Watson, Kirk, and Mallinder had been tinkering with amplifiers, tapes, and synthesizers for six years before arriving at this debut LP. Unjustly undercelebrated, it serves as a soundtrack for a desolate walk through the abandoned factories and warehouses of late '70s Sheffield: a record more post-industrial than industrial.

I struggle to see the difference between the "believing" author and the "Catholic" one, and I doubt that Universal gifted the production and distribution of the CD solely for the name of the "artist." You could have focused a bit more on the musical aspect rather than on pseudo-moralistic wankery.

A masterpiece imbued with the insecurity and sense of disorientation experienced in adolescence, for me it surpasses the equally original yet emotionally more forced "Pornography." For me, "Faith" is not only the pinnacle of the Cure but also of so-called dark music.

More than the natural evolution of the Sex Pistols, it was the natural evolution of John Lydon, highly dissatisfied with how "Never Mind The Bollocks" had been produced and eager to break free from the puppeteer McLaren. As early as July '77, in a radio program on Radio Capital, Lydon had shared a tracklist of his favorite music that was far removed from the poorly played rock'n'roll of the Pistols: link rotto 2/capital77.html. In short, Rotten, the "symbol of punk," was not a punk!

Yes, the intensity and monolithic quality of the trilogy is no longer there; it's just "POP," meaning music that's more disposable, but in return, there's a strong desire to surprise and have fun. Only two tracks to discard, "The Baby Screams" and "Screw"; aside from that, it's an album that goes down in history as part of the best English pop.

Who knows if the 35,000 spectators in Wellington who saw the New Zealand football team qualify for the 2010 World Cup against Bahrain can be called trendy sheep.
Who knows if in India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, when they won the Cricket World Cup, they celebrated or started overthinking about "the sport brought by invaders."
Who knows if there is any Maori wondering why such a solemn and important thing as a national anthem is used before a trivial football match.
