I know I’m being a pain in the ass, but can I hear a sample?

I agree with you, Undying, but the concept of beauty is purely subjective, and simply saying "Use Your Illusion is ugly/beautiful" is not very meaningful. Therefore, I also tried to justify my opinion by pointing out the shortcomings of the Guns that seem more evident and objective to me. If my mom told me, "I like the latest album by Pooh because it's beautiful," how could I respond? It's not a matter of petty critic intellectualism; it's just about justifying one's judgments.

I brought up the Pooh because I can't contest my mom's tastes, just like I can't contest yours, but I have the right to say that the Pooh and Guns, according to my very personal taste and judgment, are worth zero, at least for me, as I hold the concept of originality and creativity in music in high regard. That's all. The GNR might also be icons of the 90s, but that's just a matter of fashion that doesn't interest me. I could name dozens of musicians who were icons in the 90s and who were worth nothing. I believe time will prove me right.

I didn't want to make modernity the only measure to establish the validity of an album; let's say it's certainly a quality, even if on its own, it’s not enough (there were tons of terrible techno records from the 90s that were right in line with the times). I still find "Music For The Jilted Generation" infinitely better than "Use Your Illusion," and if in twenty years a guy wants to listen to "something from the 90s," he's definitely going to choose the Prodigy album over the banal hard-rock revival of Guns. GNR can be perfectly enjoyable, and I'm not debating anyone's tastes (my mom likes the Pooh), I just offered my personal judgment on the album without beating around the bush. As for Appetite, feel free to check out the comment I made and replicated in other reviews.

x Alexander77: Is being up-to-date a flaw for you? Since you’re orphaned from your idols Guns, why not try the Darkness? You might like them; they play the guitar and create "grandpa's music out of time." Whether you like them or not (I understand it's the latter), the first two albums of the Prodigy are creative, original, and significant for the era in which they were released, while Guns'n'Roses, whether you like them or not (I’m in the latter camp), had creativity on par with any Led Zeppelin cover band.

Nice album, but I prefer the Autechre from the late 90s (Ep7, Ae5, Tri Repetae). The review is intriguing anyway.

1) The Prodigy at least were in sync with the times. 2) "The Fat Of The Land," I admit, sucks because it expresses a pseudo-adolescent-caricatural rebellion that is similar to that of this disco scum. 3) No one in The Prodigy has ever played the guitar.

Gabbox, I can agree with you that this album aimed to go beyond new wave; nonetheless, I prefer the albums I mentioned because, for me, they are of a higher quality.
