Indeed, Giubbo could have easily been a 5/5, but for me, the listening experience was still quite fresh and I was worried about overrating it by giving it the maximum score. However, it’s a CD that improves over time, as stated in a note inside the cover.

Thank you for the comments. I'm glad to know that this album is still dear to many and intrigues those who are not yet familiar with it.

From the comments, I’ve noticed that even some supporters of NIN have hinted at Reznor’s shortcomings as a singer, so I don’t think you will slap me if I say that I find Reznor's voice and singing style so cloying and inadequate that it undermines even the good things he does on the instrumental side. Even Genesis-P-Orridge and Blixa Bargeld are not particularly gifted singers, but at least they are more aware of their own limitations, more varied, and they shy away from clichés. Recently, I have been listening to some MP3s of Foetus (unfortunately, it’s hard to find his records), and it seems to me that Reznor, who collaborated with him, has heavy debts to him.

Hello everyone, I too am a detractor of NIN, although rather than buying a metal record from Dungeon & Dragon or Guns'n'Roses, I would prefer to start a Reznor fan club. I can't judge the album in question because I've never listened to it, even though I know "Piggy" and "Hurt" through "Further Down The Spiral" (and for me, they are far from masterpieces). Cycociccio is likable to me for his courage and because he reminds me of Fantozzi declaring in front of everyone, "La corazzata Potemkin è una cagata pazzesca." I don’t know if his desire to bash NIN comes from puerile revenge or, like me with "The Fragile," witnessing the abyssal distance between the praises and recognition that critics and the public attributed to the work and what more modestly reached our ears (but after all, who hasn’t ever been disappointed by a historic album or one considered such?).
For me, it was like this: I hear my trusted dealer, Scaruffi, Blow Up, Rumore, the alternative DJ, the milkman, the postman, the priest, all shouting masterpiece, then I find "The Fragile" at a reasonable price and, all excited, I buy it, listen to it for the first time and... "well, it’s a masterpiece, so it will grow with time," I tell myself. I listen to it a second, a third, a fourth time, "it needs time to digest, come on, maybe something will start to please me," I try to lie to myself while the idea of having been taken for a ride starts to take shape. After two years, on the fortieth listen: "but damn... it’s a drag!" and I take the nice double CD to my dealer to put it on consignment. In the shop, I can barely withstand the contemptuous gaze of the clerk, unable to believe that I could part with such a masterpiece.

"so explain to me what someone who likes to play/listen to blues or jazz should do?! Switch to The Prodigy???????", well, I hadn't responded to this question from Alexander77. Obviously the answer is no (if they don't like it), but think that just last month a friend of mine, a jazz fanatic, was blown away by "Music For The Jilted Generation" that I lent him, and he made a copy for himself... Of course, he will continue to listen to jazz, but between a John Coltrane album and one by Eric Dolphy, he will also have a listen to The Prodigy. Strange but true.

Yes, for me beauty is subjective as well; for example, think about how Indians and many Africans like plump and well-fed women, while we have models of beauty that are practically the opposite. As for "Guernica," in my opinion, many people can still consider it ugly if they ignore its originality, historical significance, and do not find it expressive... expressiveness! For me, expressiveness is more important than beauty, which is also subjective.

Hehe... I also hate clichés like "what is beautiful is what pleases," but in the end, it's true. How would you prove to a fan of the Pooh that they're listening to crap music? For them, that's beautiful, and for us, it's crap. If this isn't subjective, what is?
