Ultravox Rage In Eden
Voto:
@cocchiola: art rock is an acceptable term, and it doesn’t seem to me that tier79 is the first to use it for Ultravox, although I acknowledge that it fits more with the original lineup than with the one featuring Ure.

Despite the fact that new wave is my favorite genre, Ultravox, with or without an exclamation mark, have never really excited me that much. The ones with Foxx have aged rather poorly, and listening to them now, they don't amount to much; the ones from "Vienna" with Ure were perhaps a bit too baroque. I've never listened to this, but I still receive it as good.
Max Pezzali Time Out
Voto:
Why do I find Max Pezzali disgusting? First of all, he has always used melodies that are disarmingly predictable and banal, the kind anyone of us could come up with by whistling aimlessly for a couple of minutes. Then he has rigidly applied the pop structure of verse-chorus-verse-chorus without ever adding anything to make it interesting; indeed, he has exacerbated the repetitiveness and intensity of the chorus to the point that his songs are 80% pure chorus in C major (more of a refrain with a verse around it than a song). Only Lunapop have annoyed me just as much with their endlessly repeated choruses. Finally, the lyrics are filled with an exaggerated youth slang and a sound that draws from karaoke MIDI files or the most basic dance music; only Tiziano Ferro with his SMS-like lyrics (like "Xdono") has disgusted me more, almost to the point of feeling ashamed to be young. I don’t hate pop as such, but what the 883 represent is its most detestable face. It's true, they offered an alternative to the "Sanremo crap," but only because they are "Festivalbar crap." If "Hanno Ucciso L'Uomo Ragno" and "NordSudOvestEst" are being reassessed, at this rate, in ten years we'll also reevaluate "Bella Di Padella" by Dj Francesco.

I've already mentioned it somewhere else: a suitable job for Max Pezzali would have been as a composer and singer of theme songs for cartoons.

I enjoyed it quite a bit at the cinema, but I’m not sure if it would have the same effect if I watched it again on TV.

The review is a trash masterpiece (Aldo Nove meets Giacomo Leopardi). I've never listened to the entire album, but the songs I know are a bit too "70s disco" for my taste. However, "Splendido Splendente" has made its mark. I saw Rettore too three years ago in Castelfranco while she was shopping with a friend: she really is unrecognizable, but more than the big lips, I was struck by the ultra-fake cheekbones (despite the splendido splendente).

Be patient, I know it's not great, it was my first review!
Irene Grandi Hits

Well, I wouldn't say "sold out" since she has always aimed to create catchy and accessible music. They tried to launch her as the telegenic version of Nannini, failing miserably, to the point that the original Nannini made a comeback.
Death SS ...in Death of Steve Sylvester

Well, I listened to some of their early material but it didn't say anything to me. Very showy, and in this, they can be credited with having anticipated Manson.
