The Cure Let's Go To Bed
Voto:
"Ah, because after the fourth LP did the Cure produce anything else? I'm not aware of it."
Name: vortex | Date: 30/8/2007 | Rating: 3 | Rating for the Album: 1. This was your comment on the review of Wild Mood Swings and now you give a review of "Let's Go To Bed" and even rate it decently… a big who knows. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the weakest of the three singles from the pop shift, and it seems even Smith hated it. I only give a passing mark for the B-side, which isn’t bad.

Pleasant even if far from being a masterpiece, but if only Italian cinema were all at this level.

@mick7: well, Lynx is the former Midian, only now it's not entirely dedicated to metal anymore. As for Sabotage, I don’t know it; is it the former Totem by any chance? I’ve been to Wallace a few times; it’s definitely the best English pub in the area, but as I mentioned, now that I’m a dad, I go to bed early... anyway, try Vinile; it was (and I hope it still is) an institution in the alternative scene.

Curiosity: 154 is the number of concerts held by Wire up to that moment, while the cover abstractly overlays and combines those of the two previous albums. It was already their intention to make an album that was a "summa" of their career.

A stylistically heterogeneous album (there's a bit of everything: Punk, Pop, the first stirrings of Dark, various experiments...) but everything is filtered through a patina of coldness that binds the tracks like a red thread. A work that anticipates many things to come; I even hear something of Sonic Youth and Bauhaus. The review states some very true things but is too brief.

Here, I’m an admirer of dark wave from the early 80s, but I’ve never been able to stomach these and other "Gothic Ligabue" types like Mission, Cult, and a bit of the Sisters too. Recovering the old hard rock of the 70s by playing it with a few lower notes and filling it with more or less gloomy lyrics doesn’t seem like such a great idea to me. Instead, I hold on tightly to my dark wave; that’s what was truly original.

I saw him live without knowing it was him (he was supporting Death In June), he shattered the audience's eardrums for half an hour, babbled something about Mussolini, and then disappeared. It's true that his "music" really was something else.

"Even here (in Vicenza) it’s a den of posers and/or wannabes! On Saturday nights in the center at the grotto you can see tons of them, a spectacle of nature." Mick7. Ever since I started a family, it’s been a while since I’ve hung out at clubs, but until not long ago, someone living in Vicenza could always find something good in terms of music. Have you ever been to Lynx (formerly midian) or to Vinile in Rosà? Two good venues with solid musical offers, especially Vinile, which was also frequented by people coming from outside the region. I haven’t been there in a few years, but it should still be active.

Oh my, you make me ashamed to be from Veneto. Anyway, this crap from the village fair, if I remember correctly, has sold well abroad too, and not just a little. It wasn't just a small regional phenomenon (unfortunately).
