The Cure Five Swings Live [extended play]
Voto:
The only Cure concert I attended was the one during the "Wild Tour" in '96 in Treviso. I remember that while the band was playing "Catch," Robert suddenly stopped singing, turned his back to the audience, knelt down, and started vomiting on the stage floor while the band members, holding back their embarrassment, continued playing until the end of the song. I think good old Robert had drunk a bit too much prosecco from Valdobbiadene. In any case, after a few minutes' break, the band returned (to the great relief of the audience, who feared an early end) and finished the concert, even giving three encores. The Cure might be liked or disliked, but it must be said that they always put in the effort on stage to repay the ticket price for the audience, even under difficult circumstances. A friend of mine tells me about a long three-hour concert performed after a violent rainstorm in Cittadella, just for those few who had the courage and patience to stay; if they were like those artists who look at the audience with their noses in the air, they would have played for only half an hour to avoid refunding the ticket and would have left, instead, the respect for their audience is certainly a quality of ours.

A rather mature album for a debut, melodic without being trivial, it consistently aims to go beyond the easy linear verse-chorus formula, just think of the opening track "Going Up" which unexpectedly ends with an instrumental fade-out. Other notable tracks include "Pictures On My Wall," "Stars Are Stars," "Pride," and "Monkeys." I have also always wondered which among Adrian Borland, Bono Vox, and Ian McCulloch copied from each other in their singing style.

However, to be honest, apart from the black one, the others were pretty much trash even when they were young.
Autechre Confield

Great album that still sounds futuristic despite being 6 years old. I prefer this Autechre, more incisive and cold, to the overrated (for me) "Incunabula." If you like this, you should also get the underrated EP7, which is also remarkable, perhaps just a bit softer. Not all the cinematic comparisons in the review are within my reach, but well done on the great find!

@CaptainHowdy: it's true! This means they don't even have this "merit."

UNBREAKABLE must refer to the balls of those who listen to it.

Fundamental and influential group: if it weren't for them, we wouldn't have so many pop-soul little bands that are a pain in the ass.

Exactly! Right in the first word! It's the dialectal equivalent of VAGINA, more vulgarly called FIGA.

Ah, here it is, thank you Punisher for the clarification, I was starting to feel like a chosen one blessed by fortune... I was already thinking of putting my little video cassette bought for 7,900 lire a few years ago up for sale on eBay for €250.
