When I write reviews, I try to weigh what I say; that's why I don't like pointless controversies. I talked about light music, and my opening remarks were to clear the field of those who shun light music like it's leprosy. That said, within the realm of light music, this is an album with real substance. Not only because Celentano is the best male interpreter we have in Italy, not only because the authors are Mogol and Bella, who are not exactly newcomers, but also because some of the best musicians in Italy play on it, there's excellent production behind it, and a sound finishing touch entrusted to Pischetola, who, I believe, has no equal in Italy. To spit on this album means to spit on a significant portion of Italian musical professionalism.

No, it’s a discourse I don’t share. The Dark Side of the Moon, for example, and making the necessary distinctions, was packaged perfectly; the same goes for Nevermind or Achtung Baby. That doesn’t take away from the fact that they are milestones of rock. The album in question, besides being well-packaged, is a well-made product with beautiful songs that are played and interpreted very well... I don’t feel comfortable calling it a masterpiece, but it is certainly a work that few could accomplish in Italy.

The reviewer isn't entirely wrong; EMI has been involved in commercial operations for years where the music hardly has anything to do with it. I remember the delirious box set of Queen with the three Greatest Hits... or Battiato's second triple collection, which clearly denounced the fact that it wasn't even planned given the lack of content... as for the DVD of PF, that's a bit of a different story; I believe few fans have frowned upon it and that only a few consider it truly useless...

review, really witty and incisive, readable and shareable in all its parts... well done lucatoz, keep it up, don't pay attention to them but look and move on...

As a long-time baptist, I say that "L’arcobaleno," beyond all of Mogol's chatter, is a beautiful song with a very touching text... frankly, I am not interested in the opinion of the masses. I say this even to those who pretend not to understand where I'm going with this. I don't follow the rules; I've reviewed Pappalardo just like Roger Waters... and if I considered myself prepared to write about it, I could also write about Mario Merola and Aphex Twin. For me, music and records are what they represent in themselves, beyond genres, patterns, and conventions...

The quote from the second paragraph is from "Cerco un centro di gravità permanente" by Battiato. The list missing "musica leggera" is the one proposed on the new review submission page of this site. "Musica leggera," within the scope of modern music—note, not contemporary—has taken on a form in Italy that clearly distinguishes it from all the rest, even from the French chansonniers. Therefore, I believe it is the only genre, like it or not, that is truly Italian and exportable abroad, as seen in Cocciante, Pausini, Ramazzotti... names that send shivers down the spine but indicate an undeniable phenomenon.

Ok, since the climate now feels much more favorable to me, I think it's only right to explain the introduction of the review... starting with the adjective "cool," as hated as it is trendy, to which I proposed as a counterpoint the concepts of old age and Italian-ness, which are somewhat at odds with the realms in which this term is used. It was an attempt to highlight that the review that followed was projected towards something opposite to what the term "cool" refers to. The contested subsequent line is a quote; perhaps I should have used the more well-known musica-fintorock-la-newwaveitaliana -e-il-frejazzpunkinglese. Obviously, I was referring to those who love to label music, a bit like the infinite content of the genre combo box when writing a new review. This always made me think that today there are more different and original names to define music than there are truly catchy melodies. In short, to put it briefly, this was meant to be a review of the super sharp Italian pop music (which is not in that list!!!!), the only truly modern genre that is really Italian...

So we get into personal discussions... generally, if you're really interested, if something doesn't sit well with me, I simply point it out, even in a polemical way. For the rest, I find debaser a nice site and so I continue to write there with pleasure. I've had several spats with the editors, but I believe they are still open-minded people, so much so that they added HTML to format the reviews, highlighted recommended reviews on the homepage, succinctly categorized the new arrivals, etc... in short, all things that should enhance good content more than vulgarities, a topic that was indeed the subject of my veiled polemics... There certainly remains a widespread foreign enthusiasm among the internet populace, which is somewhat an expression of our provincialism and the inferiority complex towards foreign cultures... This is a much harder thing to fight against, in fact I don't fight it, I just point it out... regards... a fool.

I instead find it stupid and depressing that the people of the internet write reviews on absolutely useless albums by the most useless foreign artists, while a great album by a fantastic Italian has to wait for me to get a review. This is the point of the introduction, my dears, and I regret that you haven't grasped it. Just as, as always, it won't be grasped by the editors, who will not feature this review, my effort to review great forgotten albums on debaser. The fact that you have inundated a debatable, yet well-written review like this one with insults confirms to me the stupidity and the lack of musical culture that reigns among the very young in Italy. Greetings, and see you at my next review!
