The album, as far as I'm concerned, was a pleasant surprise.

However, the fact that a review is written without having listened to the album is not right... ehmm.. thinking about it, to label crap as schfezza, it's not really necessary to taste it after all!!! :)
sorry for the language, but when it needs to be said, it needs to be said!!!

for GOD HOGARTH. Well, on one point we agree: A Trick of the Tail is a masterpiece album. As you can see, even with differing opinions, there is always some common ground :)

PRIMIBALLI, carpet crawlers 1999 cannot be considered a new work by Genesis, but rather a (very well conceived) remix of the old song from 1974. And as you said, the quality of that single track is way above the entire Calling All Stations. I share your judgment on Congo (the ugliest song ever written by Genesis), but honestly, despite respecting everyone’s tastes, I don't understand what you find good about that album. Anyway, it’s clear that each of us has the right to love and hate whoever we want, but to me, who deeply knows Genesis, that record irritated me, it offended me. It offended me because I deeply loved the English band and they should have and could have bid farewell with a different work, less thrown together. People noticed, and that's why the album (even with so many old fans still around) was one of the biggest musical flops of the '90s.

GOD HOGARTH generalizing is a luxury that many take in this context, and you are no exception since you say, for instance, that Domino (rightly) is unbearable. It’s obvious that in many comments, there is an attempt to give a universal meaning to personal thoughts. Because music either pleases or displeases, and there’s no arguing that, but at certain levels of analysis, it is possible to objectively distinguish between good music and bad music.
PRIMIBALLI: in my opinion, calling All Station is a regressive album, just like We Can't Dance was. But at least in the 1992 album, there was Phil Collins’ vocal histrionics to hold up the whole thing. Here, poor Wilson, who is a good singer, comes off as flat and colorless like most of the tracks. I’m fine with a carefree album, I’m not expecting the 1997 Genesis to recreate the epic of Real, but a trivial album is a bit too much. Everything is very banal, predictable, somewhat boring, a kind of prepackaged product, absolutely soulless, starting from the dreadful cover that looks like a Word clip art. It’s clear this is my personal opinion.
