Psycho, when I see that you’re still sending your reviews and Lukin is commenting on them, I tell myself that DeBaser is truly the coolest site on the Internet.
Giorgio Faletti Io Uccido

@brat12: look, actually, reading Faletti was an accident. As I mentioned, the cover was haunting me; I kept seeing it everywhere for years. I buy a ton of books in an absolutely compulsive and irrational way, but usually, I know what to expect. Oh my God, even this time I knew, so much so that in all these years I had never even dreamed of picking it up. But... there I was, they wanted just 5 euros and 40, you know how it goes at the gas station, m&m's, water, vigorsol and… faletti.

"Open Water Diver," that's what PADI calls it. For us federals, however, you would be taking a basic course "Sommozzatore di Primo Grado AR." A whole different story ;-)

eheheheh, wow, have you read this <http://tinyurl.com/dcr568>? If so, let me know what you think so I can get it too and then we can exchange opinions.

Maybe I wanted, just this once, to be less of a snob and say, come on, why think badly without having read even a line? Never again. Among other things, it's not even a genre that I'm particularly passionate about...

@enbar77: instead, the comparison with Lansdale, particularly with the book I mentioned, holds true in my opinion, since it’s the same genre and also features stories that are similar in many ways (the difference is that one knows how to write, while the other seems to be doing a homework assignment in class), and above all, given that the sales figures for this book by Faletti are impressive. If he had sold his 1,000 copies to relatives and friends and that was that, I might agree with you.

I suspected that the book was nonsense, but after seeing it in front of me for years, I bought it. A moment of weakness, you see. However, I confess that I didn’t expect such a low level. I always think that if a book gets published, it must at least be decently written. Instead, I buy and read many books, and I've never found myself disgusted BY THE WRITING by the second page.

What a flash when I saw the cover! For reasons I can’t explain, I had this album! It must still be at my mom's house.
Roberto Saviano Gomorra. Viaggio nell'impero economico e nel sogno di dominio della camorra.

Last night I saw Saviano on television (which, for me, requires no small effort – watching TV, I mean) and… OK, I take back what I said many comments ago when I wrote about his potential future appearances on talk shows. Sorry if I had some doubts about the "character," dear Saviano, I apologize, I was dead wrong.
Vittorio Zucconi L'Aquila e il Pollo Fritto

A pleasant read, but aside from the introductory chapters (in which I recognize myself quite a bit, in the sense that I love and hate the States for the same reasons), the rest is a selection/re-edition of previously published articles. I might be wrong (I haven't checked), but the feeling was that I had already read several of them, in short. Nothing wrong with that, though, and I find Zucconi likable, but I would have preferred the book to continue as it had started.
