Time Machine Act II: Galileo

The Areknames are dedicated to a very dark progressive rock typical of their label, Black Widow, and they owe much to the sounds beloved by Van Der Graaf. But as I've already said, Banco, Areknames have little in common with the quite good Time Machine.

If I'm not mistaken, on this album (or in the subsequent ones), Andrè Matos also sings a small part, and he was the best man at one of the members of Time Machine's wedding...

A few small clarifications: it's metal that is infused with progressive elements and not the other way around, because if you take away the metal component, you don't end up with progressive rock. After this brief aside, the review is well-written but perhaps a bit too enthusiastic for an album that, for being Italian, is objectively decent. Maybe the production and recording don't fully satisfy me, but I do realize the limited budget.

Perhaps you mean to say that they are a progressive metal band, which is different... Overall, the album is quite average, but they are excellent performers...

I have this from them, the next Pride (which I slightly prefer) and a live album. Very "Marillion-like," just listen to the singing. A good band for sure.

The eponymous Naked Sun, although evenly distributed between progressive rock and metal...

I have this double CD and, as often happens, the word masterpiece is abused. It’s a good effort, let’s say a 3.5, but masterpieces are really something else. It’s a progressive metal album in line with new trends like Riverside and Indukti, with the characteristic of having anticipated some of these trends. There’s a desire to go beyond the usual clichés of the genre, which is already quite something, but still, it’s a bit too verbose for my tastes and eventually becomes tiresome.

@supersoul: yes, they actually dressed as swordsmen during a time when even the "posers" had already made their mark. @drunkedqueen: I got the whim, then I stay still for months, it’s inspiration and also laziness :-)

The cover reminds me too much of the self-titled one by Mecca.
A very heartfelt review.

In my opinion, it is inferior to the debut, which remains, for me, the creative peak of SG. I'm sorry, but you are the classic type who has only ever listened to metal in their life and thinks they've found America just because of a few extra keyboards.
