Progressive metal, jazz, folk, symphonic music, Latin rhythms. All in one album, "and it still surprises me."
They come from Greece, and like modern-day Homers, they bring the theme of the journey to music: a man who is gravely ill decides to leave his wife and daughter for fear of not being able to ensure them a happy life.
"A Tribute To Life" (their second album) is thus a concept, released in 2005 and divided into two CDs, a majestic work that succeeds in the challenging task of maintaining attention from beginning to end, given the many variations, inspirations, and changes in style even within a single track. The production, clear and clean, highlights each instrument, showcasing compositional creativity beyond imagination and a technique that is not an end in itself, as is often the case recently for many prog metal bands (did someone say Dream Theater?).
I would be too verbose in describing all the tracks and probably would not be able to do justice to such beauty.
I will say that you will find instrumental tracks: the symphonic "Where Everything Begun", the guitar apotheosis in "Falte Rohmat A Chara" or the divine "Renaissance"; folk metal episodes "Ya Va Leggando El Dia" or "The Sun Shines For All Of Us"; unclassifiable compositions like "From East To West" or "Love and Loss" and others properly heavy "Heart Of The Lion" and "Somewhere".
I will stop here. The rest I leave to those who will want to make this MASTERPIECE unjustly ignored by the global metal scene their own.
...one day you'll thank me...
