Strangeways Walk In The Fire
Voto:
This mistake was made even during the peak of the genre, the mistake of lumping together styles such as glam, hair metal, and melodic hard rock under a single label. In short, it wasn't unusual to see bands like Poison, for example, categorized as AOR when in reality they had very little of the "adult" essence. However, when all is said and done, they are just labels; what remains is only rock n' roll. :-)

Along with the eponymous Strangeways and Native Sons, a beautiful triptych of what you rightly call pure AOR by the book, featuring distinctly American sounds despite their Scottish origins.
Van Canto A Storm to Come

Well, in a melting pot like that of power metal, it's really difficult to propose something new; they try, but with disconcerting results. Going back to our Neri Per Caso, they had technique and created complex vocal arrangements; there was really no need for any instruments because their voices perfectly made up for the lack of them.
In the case of Van Canto, you start off with the most overused genre possible, standardized, and furthermore, it seems to me that vocally and technically, they are not that great.
In the end, the idea could even be interesting, but the genre hardly suits the experiment, and on top of that, the band is painfully lacking...

Presence Black Opera
Voto:
Well, this album might, I say might, appeal to fans of gothic metal but, it's important to specify, it has little or nothing to do with metal. This is symphonic progressive rock, personal and well interpreted.

I can't judge live performances, but that type of singer often faces significant difficulties in a live setting.
