Afterhours Ballate Per Piccole Iene

Honestly, on the first listen, I was disappointed. Even on the second. Even on the third. And so on. It seemed far from their style, why? Little energy, few jabs, zero sarcasm, nothing gritty. Tired pieces. Now, a little time later, I’m reassessing it a lot. It’s a bitter album, just like Agnelli is bitter. Lyrics steeped in pessimism? Yes, but with poignant poetic insights. Of course, if you want to be cheerful, I wouldn’t recommend listening to it. If you’re going through a period of depression or something similar, while listening to it, tell me if sometimes it doesn’t feel like you’re deep inside it. Has it ever happened to you, being alone, talking to yourself, maybe in the car, to let out a scream alone, amidst so many thoughts? Well, this seems to capture the atmosphere of "Ballate per...". I still have to digest it... I'm starting to glimpse its beauty.

Well, live they are great. "The Symphony of Mice" drips with sarcasm... besides being the last work with Xabier, I suppose. It leaves a bitter smile in my mouth that then melts into a gloomy expression on my face.
