Well... it seems to me that Nickelback have always been extremely commercial, starting from "You Remind Me," I’m not sure if that’s the right title, where they were recycling a watered-down version of grunge that was extremely "radio friendly," which shot them to the top of the charts within a couple of weeks, despite the permanent obscenity of the singer and the banal lyrics combined with over-processed riffs... so being surprised now seems debatable to me.
