Kevin Smith Clerks (Commessi)
Voto:
Damn, how do you write... a riot of dashes, parentheses, English, Spanish, Latin words, too many!! Anyway, besides the fact that it's quite hard to read, the review in terms of content is really very good... the film is a masterpiece of independent mischief. A piece from the '90s. The song by Pop & Bash in the soundtrack makes me go wild. I think Kevin Smith felt the same. Bye!
Pavement Crooked Rain Crooked Rain

I think that contrary to what Mars wrote (back in 2006), Pavement have often been underrated by critics (not by the public), who have never considered the possibility that an album like this could represent a milestone (absolutely, in my opinion) of the 90s. For example, "Gold Soundz" is an "easy" song with three disjointed chords and a lyric that ultimately means very little. It had been twenty years since anyone produced such an immediate and raw piece.
Rino Gaetano Mio Fratello E' Figlio Unico

"My brother is an only child" is a great song, in my opinion one of the best in Italian music. The album itself, however, I find inferior to 'ingresso libero'. Rino Gaetano may not be a poet, but he's a great minstrel.

I give the album a 4 because it’s a compilation, and in my opinion, you need to have all the JD’s (there aren’t many, 2 studio albums and a few EPs). I give the review a 4 because, in the end, it’s well written, and for a compilation, that’s what matters. The comparison with the Velvet Underground isn’t that outrageous, considering that the former paved the way for the sounds that later made the JD famous. As for the rest, Ian Curtis was for me one of the greatest decadent poets of punk (if you allow me to call him that, I like it).
Claudio Lolli Canzoni Di Rabbia
Voto:
eheh odradek... I was born in 1988, I am almost 19 years old.
Yes. So I can't know Lolli in his historical period. I know him now, with a long beard, half bald, and with his remastered CDs.
I would have really liked to meet him, but he hasn't come to my area for a concert yet...
Anyway, getting back to the difficulty in listening to Lolli, it's quite high for me compared to more well-known singer-songwriters (whom he himself was inspired by) because, as you say, he has a particular and more rooted vision... more visceral, if you understand me.
Personally, the first time I listened to De André (for example), I felt like an inner shock, a jolt that made me think "damn, this guy is right."
Whereas with Lolli, who immediately seemed boring and depressing to me, then too subjective, perhaps too partial, I began to like him little by little for his strangeness. I believe I first understood that Lolli was a French-style romantic, in a cursed way, and only later a singer. That's what made me fall in love with his songs.

"Listening to it now brings an endless sadness"... so why could an album like this perhaps make you smile? Indeed. It brings sadness, rightly so and by its very nature it brings sadness. In my opinion, Lolli is a very difficult singer-songwriter because you first have to understand him, and then perhaps you can appreciate him. Unlike other greats like "De André," "Guccini," etc...
B.B. King Live At The Apollo
Voto:
Beautiful review... I agree with you about the technicality of the guitar... it’s useful for giving your best, but not for giving the best of the song. B.B. King was certainly not a virtuoso of the instrument, but in my opinion, he was a virtuoso of solos and blues nuances; he was one of the best in the field. I have several collections of his work and know most of the songs you mentioned, but I don’t have this live.
Fabrizio De André In Direzione Ostinata E Contraria 2
Voto:
in my opinion, "tutti morimmo a stento" is the greatest concept in Italian history.
I might be saying something ridiculous, but it has left a significant mark on my life; every time I listen to it, I have to hear it in one go, with one track linked to another, otherwise something is lost...
on the other hand, I find "creuza de ma" to be his best album for the music and that taste of Genoa it gives you.
