If there was a mammoth and demanding tour for U2, it was definitely the tour of this album, the preparations for which began during the making of the album. Perhaps you were referring to the fatigue of a tour. As for the lack of ideas in subsequent albums, "manco ti ce riponno" (as they said in an Alberto Sordi film).
