Well, I don’t know, if this had been a movie or a book and I had talked about a key moment, I would have just been called a spoiler... and if there's one genre that is definitely not for nerds, it's this type of fps.

I dismissed the BFG right away, going for the rocket and railgun instead, but the best was the plasmagun in quad damage. Xero on nightmare level is probably one of the toughest challenges ever seen in video game history, fragging you with the rail from 300 meters away while jumping; without feline reflexes, it was absolutely out of reach for anyone.

1999 Q3: P epoch-making in every aspect, the extremization of the frag concept taken to a level that no one would be interested in surpassing today (only the original Unreal Tournament could compete in terms of speed and frenzy). Furthermore, it is one of the first PC games to utilize Bezier curves on curved surfaces that would become popular in the following years, and the engine is the best-selling of all time, with dozens of titles based on it. The good old days when they developed with the cutting edge of available hardware; today, however, titles must necessarily also run on consoles, leading to downgrades...

I may not have explained myself clearly: on PS3, just as on Xbox, you don't choose anything at all; you take what the master server provides you, plain and simple. In MW2, the management of the host is absolutely scandalous, and the attempt to mask latency with bars that indicate tenths of a second instead of a clear number suggests a terrifyingly thin skin. The most shocking result is that latencies distort hitboxes, and those who host unknowingly enjoy a considerable advantage over others. Of course, this is all something that the casual gamer or console player will never notice, but there's a reason why the PC version has received less unanimous acclaim than the console versions.

Unreal Tournament 3 is a game designed primarily for PS3; it’s no secret that it was a total flop on PC. I won’t even bother mentioning Killzone, it’s better that way. Of course, this is a prevailing trend on consoles; it’s certainly not an idea that came from the PC world, where we've been choosing our servers since the days of Quake.

It's normal if you're a console user; you can't complain because you're not used to anything else. If you've been driving your whole life with an automatic transmission, you will hardly miss the manual one, but try to impose the automatic transmission on someone who has always used only the manual one, and that person will hardly appreciate it.

Those who play on consoles never have a choice; it’s something that's taken away from you from the start. Dedicated servers have been the real engine behind all multiplayer CODs (obviously on PC); it meant choosing servers with lower latency, picking your preferred servers, "hosting" them if you wanted, adding extra content for graphics/sound/gameplay, etc. In MW2, a lobby chooses the game server for you, and that’s that. The graphics are of course rudimentary because they now develop for consoles and then port to PC, even though on PC it runs at a -significantly- higher resolution compared to consoles; the game runs on a Dx9 engine, which means graphic libraries dating back to 2001 (a bit ridiculous considering there have been Dx10 since 2006 and Dx11 since October). When I say that on consoles you always get the short end of the stick, I’m referring to the price, the fact that on consoles they even thank you when a game lasts nearly 10 hours, and the fact that the multiplayer experience with an FPS on console compared to that on PC is like comparing the jump from a step to bungee jumping. I don’t mind that PS3 and Xbox users are squeezed like lemons; I mind that Activision thinks they can easily pull the same stunt on PC users as well. Unfortunately, with the millions of MW2 they will sell on consoles, they might wash their hands of it, but they will still get a slap in the face from those who made COD the successful brand it is today.

let's get to the "product" in question: 60 euros, no dedicated servers, graphics strictly Dx9, single player lasting less than 8 hours. I understand that console users are used to getting screwed over and thanking for it, but treating the PC world the same way and then complaining about piracy is something that makes me smile.

Why is someone who plays a video game a nerd? Why is someone who reads a book a bookworm? Why is someone who watches TV a couch potato? Why is someone who plays the lottery a slave to gambling? Enough with these clichés...
