don't pay too much attention to the comments, there's always the same people who hate Korn... good anyway

Ogre, maybe I didn't explain myself clearly, it's not just my opinion, but a common view that the first Saw earned its place among must-see serial killer films. Nothing said here will change that fact. If you didn't like it, that's perfectly fine; I got bored watching Halloween too... but I don't go around writing that it's bad, at most I say that I don't like it.

Braindead is fake splatter, unrealistic, excessive, a bit like Raimi's Evil Dead. Fulci's films remain excellent, but the wrinkles show, nowadays the splatter fanatic seeks and demands more... if you've already seen neo-realist films like Cannibal Holocaust (and all the more or less similar derivatives), what do you have left? The perversion of Nekromantik and perhaps the porno-zombie genre, but this genre certainly doesn't shine for quality. Spitting on Hostel is fine, spitting on Saw definitely less so, since the former has become in every way (and despite the mediocre actors) a cornerstone in the serial killer genre, and the third has reshaped modern splatter films. Once you've gone through that phase, you're left with independent trash films, sometimes brilliant, but decidedly crude and cheap.

They had a child together. And anyway, GR is a good director, but lately he's been missing the mark with all the screenplays.

Seen a couple of years ago on satellite, not particularly convincing in terms of screenplay but definitely able to entertain as long as you enjoy violence.

Well, call it what you want, I vastly preferred the '96 version with Branagh, obviously the original 4-hour one... for the rest, a great adaptation for its time...

In the US, it flopped heavily, partly due to piracy, partly because it’s painful... I’ll see it during the week, but my expectations are zero.

I agree, a film that incredibly disappointed me... the times of L&S and Snatch feel far away...

enough and more than enough for those who don't understand a damn thing and for the lustful, choose which category you belong to...
